Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden

About
Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden (formerly known as Belvedere Country Club) in Hampstead begins along the Intracoastal Waterway and then moves inland towards the clubhouse. The back nine is routed through tall forests that provide a home to grey heron and osprey. The golf course forms a large figure eight, which means you won't find any parallel fairways, but you will also be faced with wind whipping in every direction. The unique layout consists of six par 3s, seven par 4s, and five par 5s that all place a heavier emphasis on accuracy than distance. Many of the greens are elevated and the fairways are lined with trees. The par 3s are some of the most demanding holes due to their small, narrow greens. They are the toughest greens to hit in regulation but luckily if your placement isn't perfect there are still opportunities to save your score.

Eh
Course was tired. Ground was hard enough to use as an airport
I’m not sure what the other reviewers are seeing.
This isn’t meant to tear them down as much as give an honest review so that golfers can understand what the course conditions are like. It’s not super expensive but it’s too much for what the shape is. The greens right now especially are covered in poa annua. The tee boxes and range aren’t in good shape. The fairways are very thinly covered in grass so mostly you are hitting approach shots off of sand. I realize it takes alot of time to restore a course but they are slowly raising the prices and there are some reviews on here making it out to be something it isn’t.
Not worth price
Greens had crap growing everywhere and fairways were not good. Tee boxes were basically sand traps. It was $40 to play here and should not be more than $25.
OK for the price
Course was fairly narrow. Little chance once you got off it. Tees need work. But still a bargain when considering the price.
Ironclad
Course was in good condition and not overly crowded on the day I played. The greens were super fast, which gave me problems, so watch out. For my money, this was well worth it.
I tried using the Golf Now app to load my scores, but it would not recognize Ironclad as a course, so that needs to be updated.
Super Great Idea and the place was incredible- golf course needs some love
This place has crazy awesome potential!! The Shaka taco is absolutely worth the trip and made the day better for sure. Super awesome spot to hang out and enjoy a day with no agenda. However- the golf needs so attention. Majority of the greens were covered in sand and mainly unplayable. With that thought- the 8th hole was AWESOME. If they can somehow make every hole as nice as the eighth- they’ll be in great shape. Pace of play was pretty horrific. No starter or anything to tell you where to go- but that’s not really the vibe here so I can’t necessarily be mad. Only got to play 14 holes in 4 hours (had to leave a little early due to a dinner reservation that said to be early for).
Overall fun place to go if you’re looking to grab a taco and hit a few balls- but not the best if you’re looking to get a nice round in.
Thursday golf
Played on a warm, cloudy day to end the month of February…a blessing to be near the coast!
We played 18 holes in just under 3 hours, so also a positive.
Fairway grass is not growing yet and still have some trouble spots on some greens, but I do like the course layout.
Of course, there is a nice selection of Iron Clad beer waiting at the 19th hole!
Ray
Really enjoyed the course will play again when we visit daughter in the fall
Ironclad
Just starting to play again after lengthy absence, really enjoyed Ironclad course. Good round for the money.
Great place
They have really come a long way here, great layout and can use every club in the bag. A lot of bang for your buck, and nice amenities if you want to hang around!
HIghly Recommended
To be fair, its not the most challenging course you going to play, but its fun - decent par 3s, and some other holes requiring shaping, Greens were great - pacey and holding and absolutely worth the inexpensive fees.
But its the freindlienss of EVERYONE that was great, from check in girl, staff, members and other players.. really nice and no egos.. and to finish off with Shaka Taco at the course !!! AMAZING
perfect for those 12+ handicaps
Treacherous greens
Had a beautiful day to play golf in January.
Winter golf equals tight lies and fast greens.
The pin positions were very difficult on many holes.
On these holes if you missed your first putt, you would probably end up further from the hole than you started..
