Nestled within the Blue Ridge Mountains, Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club is peacefully tucked away with the Great Smokies sheltering it to the west. It offers some of the most stunning views of any golf course in western North Carolina. Although it feels remote, Asheville is less than half an hour away. The mountainous surroundings provide a dramatically hilly terrain that is ideal for a challenging round of golf. Players will face plenty of uneven lies on this layout. The elevation changes also provide some interesting risk-reward opportunities throughout the golf course. Mature trees frame most of the holes and the small, sloped greens are often framed with bunkers. The Cummings Cove layout seems unusually short at only 6,415 yards from the back tees but it's not to be underestimated. The undulating terrain makes it feel much longer.

Needs a lot of work

The course layout is good. Definitely more Target style golf. But the conditions were terrible. They have serious drainage issues. Even though it hadn’t rained in a number of days it was cart path only on the front nine and even the tee boxes were soaked or didn’t have any grass. Wanted to grab a bite at the turn but restaurant wasn’t open. Staff was friendly enough but until they get their drainage issues figured out I will not be going back here.

Bad Green Conditons

The greens were sandy and still recovering from aerating them weeks ago. No one told me when I checked in. Putting was a joke as the greens were sandy and putts bounced like you were putting on gravel. In good condition I would definitely recommend. Disappointed no one warned me of the shape of things. If you make a tee time here you’re rolling the dice..

What happened?

We’ve played CC at least 20-30 times. I know it’s early in the season, but what happened to this golf course? So many rough patches in the fairway, greens bumpy, 1/2 dozen barren tee boxes, numerous ridiculously painted markings on the ground instructing you where to walk, crap practice balls (per usual). Even a hot deal didn’t lessen our disappointment. Only positive was the starter - nice guy.

Terrible Staff!!!

First time playing here, and I’m not planning on coming back anytime soon. The course layout was good. But the staff could not have been more rude and hateful. We had an early morning tee time and played the front nine in exactly 2 hours, which most consider a good pace of play for a foursome. At the turn we had to find someone to purchase food and drink. Then starting the back nine we were told that we were holding up the whole course, even thought we were simply waiting on the group in front of us. Some old people there need to know when it’s time to retire…
