Challenging course
This is an excellent public course when it is not underwater… A lot of different shots that require the use of most clubs in your bag… The number nine hole is a long par three surrounded by bunkers and a big oak tree which can build your confidence or crush your hopes along with your score. I play here twice a week, the restaurant is also fantastic!
Excellent course and challenge
This course lacks water hazards and has minimal hazards overall, but provides many longer par 4's that are mostly slight doglegs. J.E. Goodpark features a lot of trees to defend itself, and they do a good job of punishing misses. Overall, greens have some speed and break, and the rough is tall enough to make club selection important. I enjoy this city operated course, and am always surprised that Akron does a nice job here (for example I lived in the city for 10 years and my street was never plowed).
Nice City course
Good Park is a challenging course with lots of mature trees and plenty long enough. Enjoyable place to play! Typically its very busy so be prepared for a slower round. They do have a ranger patrolling to try and keep play moving.
Beautiful golf course but
Beautiful golf course but The pace was really slow. The course condition was excellent. And again the pace of play was terrible!!! Maybe I will play it next year.
very nice
Greens are great. Course adds a good challenge layout. Greens roll true with no bounce. Will play again.
Golf Now burned me
Course was great! Golf Now burned me though. They charged the current rates plus their fee. Was ticked off when I got to the pro shop and found that out.
Fun course
This course is a real treat from the tips. If you can avoid the trees, you can score but it is challenging. A bit beat up around the greens.
Great course
This is a great course. I had only played JE once before and that was a couple of years ago. This course will test your abilities off the tee box. Tree lined fairways on just about every hole make it a long day if you can't drive the ball. If you can hit fairways you will have a very enjoyable round with all 3 par 5's being reachable! Greens are in superb condition right now. Rolling perfect on every hole. I really enjoy this course and will be back!
So much potential!
J. E. Goodpark has SO MUCH POTENTIAL if it only got some TLC from its groundskeeper. The grass needs a good consistent watering to repair some severe dead spots on fairways and in rough. The holes are challenging and have an excellent layout. The golfnow system does not sync with the Pro Shop's computer so make sure you have your email receipt. The greens are a little beat up in some areas, but it does not affect speed or roll. The rough is not as thick as other reviews are claiming. Booking this course for anything under $25 is a good rate. If only they gave this baby some more love...
Wet conditions, but staff and quick drainage made up for it!
We got there right as a storm hit. We only had to wait about 30 minutes before we were aloud out (only played the front 9), but the friendliness of the staff definitely made up for it. The greens were only "it just poured" slow for 2 holes, then they drained very nicely. Otherwise, course was in really nice shape. Definitely challenging if you're not straight off the tee. I will always play at Good Park!
Unforgiving
The course is filled with a lot of trees if you don't stay in the fairway. It seemed as though I hit everyone in sight. That's why I call it unforgiving.
First Time Playing Here
After seeing this course so many times driving down I-77, I purchased a Group Golfer coupon for this course and went with another couple. Couldn't beat the price of $19 for 18 and a cart. Very nice course. Liked the layout. Rough was very high and hard to find balls.
As a woman golfer, my only complaint, as I have with many many golf courses, is that there are no bathroom facilities out on the course. I don't understand why courses don't spend the money on an $80-90/month port-a-john! I know men who need them too! Won't be back just for this reason.
