Golfer Reviews
It's all about approaching and putting.
This is a dead flat course that meanders around a posh Bowling Green subdivision. Trees are well out of the way and the fairways are, well, fair. Maybe even generous and well maintained.
So how do we arrive at the gaudy slope of 139?
Every green was twitchy, deceptive and fast. Therefore, you have to approach them correctly and putt them like you pet a cobra. We had a lot more three putts than birdies. I don't even want to talk about the traps - stay out of them.
Kudos to the greenskeepers and to the marshall who kept things from bogging down on a well-attended Saturday.
Great design with variety of tests.
Playing this Arthur Hills track is always fun and never gets boring. Playable for friends who don't break 90 and challenging enough for friends who shoot in the 70s.
Great course anytime
The greens hold, are very true, and fast. Always in great shape. Every time I have played this course it's been a great experience .
Great links course.
Stone Ridge is a links course, it's well bunkered, has thick, lush rough, hard fast greens and is very well maintained.
The course has open and tree-lined fairways and several holes where water comes into play. The wind often swirls and gusts due to the course's location. It is a very challenging course. Number 1 is a difficult starting hole, so be ready to execute out of the gate. The signature hole, no. 18, plays right to left with a pond, 4 feet from the fairway, running along it's entire length and past the green. It's a risk/reward tee-shot and is a blast to play.
The course gets a lot of play and it's in a college town. So, there is a larger proportion of young players than is typical for a course of this difficulty. As such, pace of play can suffer at times. My wife and I typically play an easy course in 3 hr 15 min. Saturday night, at the turn, we found ourselves behind a group of young men drinking beer and playing terribly. The pace was horrible and the course was backing up behind us - not fun. They let us play through at 15, but the damage was done and we finished in the dark. To be fair, this is the exception, in my experience, with this course.
Nice Toledo Area Course
I have played Stoneridge many times. I always find the course in good shape, challenging and enjoyable. The greens are very good and usually roll very well. I would guess running between an 10 and 11 for this round. Despite all the recent rain the course was in very good shape. I usually play very early on the weekend mornings and make it around in about 3 hours. Most recently played late Sunday afternoon (4:30) barely finished before last light (9:10). There were familes and coulples on the course. I was in no hurry so I did not mind. In my opinion, this is the best public course in the Toledo area.
As usual, a great experience
Probably the best course at a great price in the Northwest Ohio area. Course was in excellent condition but the pins were extremely difficult. Upped the challenge quite a bit but did not take away from the quality. Will continue to make Stone Ridge a regular visit.
Nice Arthur Hills track
Good public course with a challenging Arthur Hills design.
Good value,golf course
best art hills course I've played. well maintained, good variety of hole design.
Nice Challenging course.
Challenging course. Fun to play. Some difficult holes. If you play from the tips you better bring your "A" game
Great course, play the back tees and and see how tough it can be. Play up and see how friendly it can be.
For this early in the spring it was in great shape. Greens were quick, the rough was thick around the greens. The over all, great shape...
Fun and a tricky course
I enjoy playing on this course. The staff is friendly, the course is in good condition and offers a wide range of challenging holes you will enjoy. I recommend it to other keen golfers. The green is in superb condition. Not too fast, but enough to allow you to develop a smooth putting stroke.
