About
Delaware Golf Club sprawls across rolling countryside that lends an idyllic and secluded setting. Donald Ross designed the original nine holes in 1922 and they were later joined by a second nine designed by Michael Hurzdan in 1998. The layout meanders through wooded valleys and ravines. The rolling fairways are fairly wide but they are lined with mature trees and bunkers heavily guard the small, undulating greens. There are also water hazards that come into play on a number of holes. Delaware Golf Club's second hole is notably challenging, it is arguably the toughest hole on the front nine. This par-4 requires not only accuracy in order to avoid the ravine on the left but also distance to carry the lake and remain in the angled fairway. Golfers will be faced with one of the most difficult putts on the golf course if their approach finds the wrong side of the green.

Don’t call the course for customer service
Very poor customer service (or should I say NO customer service) and rates extremely high for winter rates. Made several attempts to book a tee time over the phone given the iffy weather forecast in Columbus even leaving messages for a return call. That never occurred. Another individual in our group had to physically stop to get one scheduled.

Memories
Grew up playing the old course. The more I play the new holes, the more I like most of them. The new hole greens need help. You can notice a great difference between them and the 7 old greens. The old greens heal much better and are strikingly more consistent. The fairways are excellent. Number 15, however, is mowed crazy. Hit a drive in the middle and you can be in the rough. It should be mowed like the old course was right up to the road. A starter is needed.

One Of My Favorite Courses
This is one of my favorite courses in Central Ohio. It is a little pricey but if falls into the category of you get what you pay for. My daughter attends college in the area so we play here a couple of times a year when I am in town for a visit. The course is typically in very good shape. The back nine (the Donald Ross holes) I find more challenging with the smaller greens. On this particular visit it was me and my two daughters. There was a single player that was combined with our group whom we hit it off well with. The pace of play was great as we moved along without waiting for a group in front or being pushed by a group from behind. Staff was very friendly.

A quality course of old and new designs
Pulling into the Delaware Golf Club, it reminds you of an older layout, passing holes with bunkers around the greens and a one way entrance that takes you to the clubhouse. One of the unique features of the club is the lake driving range. Aqua floater balls are used year round as you hit your shots into a lake, approximately 340 yards long by 50 yards wide. The front nine winds thru houses and trees with some long par 3s. Then the original Ross nine has drastically smaller round greens with more undulations than the front nines greens. While leaves off the fairway make finding your ball 30/70, fairways and greens were soft, but for fall an overall great day in the 50s. Greens rolled well and held. Overall, the course was in good to above average condition.

Condition
The new greens just don’t have the foundation of the old 7 greens. Too bad since that detracts from the experience.
#15…the way the fairway is mowed is just plain stupid. Hit a good drive that splits the fairway and your in the rough. Mow the fairway correctly, and add a local rule to get a drop from the incline by the road.
Course is in great shape tee to green.
