High Point Golf Club
About
High Point Golf Club is a public course in Montague that has been around since 1966. The course has since undergone major renovations but it still retains the original character of the design. The layout is routed between two massive, sparkling lakes. You won't find any parallel holes on this golf course, it provides plenty of space so you don't have to worry about errant drives. High Point is seemingly mild, but don't be fooled by the traditional 6,783-yard layout. There is a surprising amount of bite to this golf course. Each hole presents a unique challenge but what they have in common are the rolling fairways that are subtly contoured. They leave for some difficult and creative approaches. In addition to the golf course, High Point also has a driving range available as well as putting and chipping greens.

great condition
Course was in great shape but the pace of play was slow again other than that it was a great course
No play
The course overbooked, and comped me a second round. They told me that they could not get me on the course.
Better than I remembered
I played this course over 20 years ago, it was what then appeared to be a failed real estate developement with a golf course The housing was in disrepair and detracted from the course and the course needed help big time. Today the housing and the course have improved. Someone has put money into the course and conditions have improved. But it is still basic golf. The greens were in uniformly good condition, the fairways need work , there is alot of clover especially around the greens. It is mostly laid out around a lake so water can come into play. Hole 16 especially so. Unless you can fly it 280 play to the right. It was $21 on Golf Now.
The course has good features
The course is some what long, needs lots of improvement on fairway bunkers & greenside bunkers. The fairways could use some improvement, the course has lot's of challenging holes with water and hazards all around. Good ball placement is the key to shooting a good round. Must keep the ball in the fairways to have a good look at pin placement, rough is sticky and can be quite a challenge. Beautiful scenery and a variety of wildlife. If you are kind they will actually allow you to do some swimming after a round. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Excellent course
Played High point for the 5th time, each time I play high point the course i gets better. . I would recommend this course to all golfers.
A Great Day
The tee boxes are good, fairways are nice the greens were in great shape. Pace of play was good, a little slow on the back nine. Course layout was good. Shot makers holes and long holes, used every club in the bag.
the course is very challenging for intermediate golfers..
this is the 3rd time playing this course.....the first time i went people were telling me that the course sucked but what they didnt know was that they dumped a lot of money into it...i love this course and for the price you cant beat it....i live about an hour and ten minutes away but it is worth the trip...
Has potential if conditions improve
Very slow play with little ranger supervision. The course layout is beautiful but the maintenance has been neglected. In a few years the course will be nice. Lots of water but it doesn't usually come into play if you get the ball in the air. Some awkward hole layouts that require layups with short irons to avoid lakes and dog legs. Fairways very rough. Greens in good shape. Half the greens are challenging and pitched. Enjoyed the day and will be back as the cost was very low. However I always left after the first 9 because of the spreed of play.
Nice day
I ended up playing with an employee of the course. That was nice for him to show me the way around as you do have to cross streets.
It helped to know where to aim.
The course was in good conditions, greens pretty fast and some subtle breaks.
Great course
Nice people, interesting course, good main thence, good round time, four hours ten minutes on a busy Saturday. Great drinks and food post round
High point is a hidden track
The course overall was in good condition . The greens rolled nicely and fairways were quick. The tee boxes are still in the works but coming along nicely. Some fairways were spotty but overall it's a good time. Decent amount of water and if your playing the whites and can go deep I recommend leaving driver in the bag
Fun course, but
But they need more signs telling you where the next tee is. I also think it's a little dangerous that you have to drive your golf cart in the street with cars going by you!!
poor shape
The fairways need a lot of grass seed.
The greens need aeration and reseeding.
The tees need a makeover.
Good value but tough
Title says it all. $30 Saturday to ride on golf now. Pretty good shape for April. A lot of water and some unforgiving tee shots make this a tough track.
#worthedrive
Apr 13 and the green were fair and true and the place wasn't sopping wet. If you eat on the course and your a guy they must hire only models that drive the bev cart (huge plus). Middle of nowhere and no distractions. Not long but not boron short, there aren't many straight holes. It's a fun layout.
Ps- did I mention the bev cart and wait staff are models or should be I they didn't live an hour and a half away from civilization?
Hidden gem
Loved this course. Read some old reviews that made me hesitant. Course was in great condition. A couple of drawbacks: had an early tee time - literally could not see the first 3 holes due to fog - I assume this is regular in the early morning...in a way kind of cool. Secondly, very hard to find some holes. Those are the negatives but in terms of pure golf, loved it.
Scenery abounds.
The course is beautiful and well kept. Greens are smooth and quick. The fairways were very green and lush. The course has numerous holes with water on them. This course was closed for a few years and the ownership and staff should be highly commended for their dedication and hard work in establishing this course as a must play.
Beautiful, well maintained, cheap
This is a beautiful course that plays around and sometimes over a lake in the far Northwest corner of New Jersey. The greens are some of the best I've putted on and for the most part the fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. The course layout is very interesting, with a good mix of long, and short holes, dog legs and a few blind shots. The first hole is a shortish par 5, that requires a perfect drive to go for the green in two. This shot is not for the weak, because it will require about a 190 yard shot over the lake. The 16th hole is a great risk-reward at 280 yards, with the first 200 over the lake as well. My only complaint is that it is a 2 hour drive for me, and the final hole is a par 3. (Just a personal thing with me).
The best part is 30 dollars for 18 holes with a cart weekdays, and when I played, I joined another single on the 3rd hole, and we played without seeing another person for the rest of the round!!!
Also the foliage was beginning to turn and the scenery was spectacular, however the leaves were also starting to fall and sometimes made locating the ball difficult to impossible.
Fun course to play.
This course was interesting to play. Many of the holes were quite open, yet some were somewhat difficult. I found it a lot of fun to play. It somewhat needed attention, but was generally in pretty good shape. That water was not a major factor except for three holes where it was a factor. I would definitely play this course again.
Great for the price
I paid $24 per person to play this course at 1:40 in the afternoon and for the money it was a great deal. A friendly staff member drove carts out to the parking lot for my group so we could load our bags.
This course forces you to play smart golf because it has a lot of 90 degree dog leg holes and A LOT of water. Found myself playing a lot of irons from the tee box instead of driver. Fairways and greens were in good condition. I will definitely play this course again if I can find a similar deal.
