Jamaica Run Golf Club

About
Jamaica Run Golf Club offers one of the most challenging layouts in the Miami Valley. The difficult greens provide most of the trouble. They are small and hard to hit and on many holes they are elevated above the fairway, making it hard to play a run-up shot. The bentgrass fairways are spacious and thankfully more forgiving, but they are bordered by thick rough. Water hazards come into play on several holes. There is even one hole that crosses the meandering creek that runs through the golf course twice. The par-5 18th provides a memorable finish, requiring a tee shot past a large pond to a fairway that sits well below the pond. Finding the right club to use and a good spot to hit are nearly impossible.

Course needs a bit of TLC
Overall in poor condition particularly the greens ,some of them close at this time of the year. Some fairways are pugged..
Course poor condition
This course is in very poor condition and disarray. Greens are terrible. There was one hole that had a miniature green believe it was either whole six or seven so I would not recommend this course management/ownership needs to get some good professional landscaping in there to fix this.
Funday Friday
Beautiful day with good players, course was ok considering the recent draught.
Not worth the money
This course and equipment is not well taken care of. Limited staffing and the feeling like not much money is put back into the course make it feel like it’s not worth the money to play here.
Easy to get a tee time
I just started coming back to this course after not playing it for 15 years. While it’s easy to get a tee time here and the value is decent (and the pace of play), the tee boxes need some love and several greens have dead grass issues in a few spots. The greens tend to be mostly slow. The fairways are in decent shape and the layout offers an interesting course to play.
Surprises and poor conditions
Upon arriving we find that the front 9 is closed. I was given the option to play just the back 9, play it twice, or not play at all. We're teeing off on our second hole (#11) and we're then notified that we had less than an hour before a high school match would start. So another surprise and bump in our round. Eventually, they now said to play the front 9 so we gave it a shot.
They had just aerated the greens and left piles on sand on each green. Tee boxes on the entire course were empty dirt patches and tall crabgrass. I've always liked this course for the layout and open layout to bring newer golfers to, but this was a disappointing round for sure.
It is Okay
The course conditions especially the greens - leave a lot to be desired. The golf cart conditions are also at odds. However, the price is reasonable and the people are friendly.
Terrible
The course was in terrible shape. The greens/Tee boxes were in rough shape, the fringe was completely overgrown and unkept, was difficult to tell the difference between fairways and rough's. Mentioned this to a staff member and he stated that every course is like this right now. Not worth $50 at all, wouldn’t pay $25 bucks for this course.
Horrible conditions
I’ve played Jamaica multiple times, and today was the worst it’s ever been. The course has never been in great condition, but today was horrible. Most fairways were dry with multiple barren spots. Half of the greens were brown. Wedges into the green would bounce off. Course was so dry it played a club or two shorter than usual with how much roll it got. Saw some staff turning on sprinklers and they apologized as they had been out of commission for a while: and that was quite evident with the lack of green grass
Wasted day of golf
This place is in horrible condition. There’s obvious years of neglect beginning to show even beyond the lack of daily maintenance. $52 to play at this course is a complete ripoff.
Can’t do it anymore.
For me this has always been a course that I would play because it was cheap. I was able to overlook the lack of maintenance and the conditions of the course due to the lower cost. But this season it has gone from bad to worse. Breaking plastics tees just trying to get them into the ground. Greens are so dry and in terrible condition if not dead. The carts are in terrible condition too. Seats are ripped and don’t move when you press the accelerator. I’m assuming their hood or fire suppression system is either broken or failed inspection seeing how the kitchen is now outside under a pop up tent. Time to start putting some money back into it.
