Jamaica Run Golf Club

About
Jamaica Run Golf Club offers one of the most challenging layouts in the Miami Valley. The difficult greens provide most of the trouble. They are small and hard to hit and on many holes they are elevated above the fairway, making it hard to play a run-up shot. The bentgrass fairways are spacious and thankfully more forgiving, but they are bordered by thick rough. Water hazards come into play on several holes. There is even one hole that crosses the meandering creek that runs through the golf course twice. The par-5 18th provides a memorable finish, requiring a tee shot past a large pond to a fairway that sits well below the pond. Finding the right club to use and a good spot to hit are nearly impossible.

Not worth it, no matter how cheap
I get that they have great deal times, don’t do it. Definitely not worth it, use that money to go get a chick fil a sandwich instead. Greens r basically concrete and in the worst condition i’ve ever seen any course, dudes on lawn mowers will be in your shots way for 5 mins at a time, pace of play is horrible, I quit after 9 and only allowed myself to do that because of how cheap I payed for 18. Spend a few extra bucks and go have a lot more fun elsewhere.
Jamaican me regret this
I used to love playing this course. But now, the greens are horrendously hard like concrete, super fast, and brown and patchy. The bunkers were unkept and pretty much dirt with a little loose sand. Some of the tee boxes had longer than desired grass. The 18th Fairway has had some type of water pipe construction dug up right in the middle of it for two years now.
A once nice public course is nothing more than a dog patch now that need to be sold or closed for good.
Played this course a long time ago and other than the 18th hole bing somewhat gimmicky, it was one of the better courses in the area. Played it this it this year on Memorial Day and I wish I hadn’t.
Let’s start with the tee boxes. First of all, it doesn’t look like the tee boxes has been moved since the last time I played it. Between the tee markers (we played the white) very little actual grass could be seen. More weeds than actual grass and it appears that they have not mowed them in several weeks.
Now onto the fairways, no indication really as to where the rough ends and where the fairway starts if you prefer to hit out of the rough, or that is what you do on most shots, this course is for you. Fairways are supposed to be cut very short and unless you’re in someone else’s divot, you should never have a bad lie. Not here, just as long as the rough, again looked like it had not been mowed for weeks.
The Greens, if that what you want to call them, were hard as a rock, very little, if any grass is some spots. With all the rain this area has gotten this spring, the greens should not be this hard. Not once did I have to fix a ball mark. Also, on almost all greens, there were areas where it appears that water was allowed to puddle, rotted the grass and became moldy. Worst greens I’ve ever seen.
Lastly the carts appear to have been new in 1970. Slow, loud, cracked and torn seats. Simply pathetic.
With the number of nice, inexpensive courses in this area, like Green Crest, Potters, Twin Run, Glenview, etc.. there is no reaaon anyone should ever play this course…
This course needs maintenance
The greens were horrible, lumpy, hard, and patchy. They really need some work.
Early Season
Rough was deep. Greens were patchy. Dirt patchy like lack of grass.
Jamaica run
Pitiful course overgrown grass everywhere. Horrible condition. Quit after nine holes.
Not worth the money
My friends cart died during the first 9. My was about to die by the end of the 18 and barely moved
Horrible
Had to wait 25 minutes past our tee time just to get a cart. The cart wouldn't stay running. Course was in such bad condition, people were losing balls in the fairway. The greens were so bad , they had bald spots and ant hills all over. For a place to charge 108.00 for 2 people and a cart to be this bad is robbery. Never coming back here and definitely not ever going to recommend this place to anyone...
Are they closing
Started on the back, it was over grown and could not see a fairway. Greens were in need of a lot of love. Front was the same. It seems like they may be closing. Did not see many workers that day. Normal golf course operations take a lot of personnel, I saw maybe two. I used to love the course. Hoping they can turn things around.
Fairways were long on the back nine, greens were short, smooth and fast.Had to hit high approach shots or ball would run off the green
Staff and course
It is a complete 180 from years past. Got rid of the grumpy old man working there and the course well it is getting better still a little work to go but improving tr
emendously
The course conditions were below par
Multiple greens had areas under repair. Green on hole five completely closed down. Flag placed in middle to end of fairway. Fairways and greens not mowed to proper height. Golf carts in rough shape. Driving range closed. Overall a farm track. Price should be 15.00 with cart.
Greens need help
Greens need some TLC but other than that, course is nice and away from city so it was peaceful and quiet. I will play there again!
Staff was outstanding
Course was in poor shape
