Potter's Park Golf Course
About
The City of Hamilton offers two municipal courses, the championship Twin Run Golf Course and the regulation-length Potters Golf Course. They both provide some of the most affordable rounds in the area. Although Potters is the easier of the two courses, it's still a fun layout that has become a favorite with locals. It's ideal for beginners but also great for a quick round no matter what skill level. The back nine plays especially fast. The holes are mostly straightforward with a few strategically placed bunkers and subtle elevation changes to contend with. Potters Golf Course may not be the most challenging round you've ever played but the casual atmosphere and fun layout shouldn't be overlooked. It's also conveniently located less than an hour from both Cincinnati and Dayton.

DON’T COME IF THEY HAVE AN EVENT
I don’t Know how bad the course pace of play normally is but this was absolutely miserable. It took my 3 1/2 hours to play the front 9 when I was supposed to be playing 18. They lets the tourney guys drag their feet and do nothing about it but when you get told to play through the Marshall comes out and tells you “ you shouldn’t be playing through you play to fast and they shouldn’t have let you through”. Now I don’t know about everyone else but I don’t have 6-7 hours in a day to play golf.
First off that takes the fun out of the game if it plays to slow and no one can get in a rhythm
And secondly how dare they come yell at a single golfer for playing to fast for when the foursome from the tourney is dragging their feet... this place is stupid and I will never come back.. the good reviews about this place I think are bogus because all the other reviews that were bad about this place got it right on the head and the three reviews that were raving about it may be delusional.
Nice choice for a quick 18 holes
This is a great course. Wide fairways and fairly large greens. There are some challenging holes. I went after s few days of rain and the course drained well. There were spots of rough that retained water but the overall course remained in great condition. I'd highly recommend going to Potters Park.
Good shape!
Potters has done a 360 with the fairways this year. Everything in good shape. Greens were rolling fast! Played 18 holes in 2 hours.
First Time in a Long Time
Decided to give Potter's Park another try after several years absence. Fairways and greens were good. Rough was a little long. Had a single golfer in front of us that REALLY slowed play down a lot. Course is relatively short and tight with many adjacent fairways. GolfNow indicates they have a driving range, but they do not. Very disappointing.
Nice course!!!
This course was very forgiving off the tee!! Great for me )) good course layout and very good looking piece of property- I ended up the day with a 79 on the par of 69))
Even after the rain. Still in good shape.
First time at this course today. Even with all the rain over the last few days, the greens and fairways were fairly dry. This is a shorter course which makes shot selection very challenging off the tee. You'll work to consistently get full shop opportunities here. Lots of irons off the tees.
Plays longer than the yardage
Wet conditions and very thick ruff made the course a lot more challenging then how the score card read. Quite a few easy holes combined with a few tough holes kept the round interesting and fun.
Booking and customer satisfaction is horrible
Booked a tee time on 5/12/2020 to play on 5/13/2029 for a round of 18 holes. Show up to play and of course don’t have reservation on file secondly they say we can play 9 and would re-evaluate if we could finish the round. Play the front nine in 1 hour 20 minutes at the turn try to pay the additional 5 dollars as promised on the turn of the 9 and of course was denied. I had opportunity to book a different course but due to this course being 5 minutes from home and 13.00 cheaper around I elected to go with this course. However I feel like no one cared if we played or not. Not to mention 9 holes with a cart we were only charged 5 dollars less than a full round. If you want to play this course do it with a contingency plan. Second time playing and will never be back. First time we were behind slow players and they wouldn’t let us around and the staff stopped us 3 holes from finish. Will not recommend this course to anyone. Play Walden Pond or Green crest. Any where but here. These people could care less if you played here. In fact exact words were they were always booked. Save your money not worth the hassle
Improved with new owners
Butler Co. Park Conservancy took over from City of Hamilton and in a couple short months they have vastly improved the conditions, cutting out overgrowth, improving fairways and greens. A fun experience.
The cup
The cup on the greens were not deep enough. The cup were set almost flush with the greens making it unofficially impossible to whole from a distance.
Chris
I like the course. It is short and allows me to practice the short games needed.
Bad course management
They don't go by tee times will let walk ins around you even if you have a tee time when you are making the turn. Played nine made the turn and eight to ten groups waiting to tee off. Potters wont give a rain checks to play another day because they believe you can wait for a hour in between each nine. The staff is very incompetent on managing pace of play. Been playing since 1992 at Potter's Park and today was my last day.
