Green Crest Golf Club is a player-friendly course located in Middletown. The course was designed in 1972, offering a traditional layout with wide, forgiving fairways and short roughs. The golf course is on the shorter side at 6,271 yards from the back tees, which is indicative of the time it was designed. Over booked
Course was in great conditions. This was my second time playing. Starring at the first tee box we were backed up 2 groups. Every hole we were waiting at the tee box for at least 10 minutes. It seams that the course was over booked and tee times were too close to each other because every hole had at least 1 group waiting to tee off.

Worst pace of play
Legitimately the worst pace of play in the Cincy area despite 2 “Marshalls” out on the course who’s only input was to tell our group of 3 to “stop playing the blacks” (6300 yards) when we were playing essentially even golf and waiting on the foursome ahead of us at every tee box. Clueless staff, course conditions ok for the amount of play it gets, some very questionable routing of the course at times. Also 8 minute tee times is absurd for a course that gets the quality of players that are typically out there.

Blaming it on Cart Path only…
After passing Green Crest hundreds of times, as I traveled I-75, I finally decided to play it. I figured a quick, nine whole round on a Sunday evening would be perfect. However, due to the heavy rains over the previous few days, cart path only rules were in affect. And apparently, every golfer in Ohio, that has never played with “cart path only” rules was out playing on Sunday evening at Green Crest. Lol!
It shockingly took two hours to play four holes?!? (This is no exaggeration!) And, my “quick”, 9-hole round took over 4 hours to play. Ugh! I believe this is a first for me in 45 years of golf.
But as the title says, I’ll chalk this up as playing with “cart path only” rules in effect, and will give it another shot during the week when most are working!! 😉
