Sugar Isle Golf Course

Played Sugar Isle today 10/12/2026. The check in staff has always been very friendly. The course is in really good condition. The grounds crew have a done a very good job. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all in good condition. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tee boxes were horrible, greens were marginal, fairways were ok for the amount of rain recently, clubhouse is decrepit. This course should be priced at about $20 max. Had to quit after 15 holes due to extreme backup that made it unbearable to continue.

Tee boxes were freshly aerated. There was little to no grass on them. At least they were damp for footing and not rock hard.

Some of the greens had bad spots and we played after an outing, so they were worn out by the time we teed off after 2.

Sugar Isle is one of the better-conditioned public courses in the area. The greens are usually immaculate and can also be some of the more challenging around, with plenty of slope and some tough pin locations. Fairways are generally in very good shape, with only a few rough patches that tend to show up later in the season. Tee boxes are better than average as well, and the bunkers range from perfectly playable to very good.

There’s a good amount of variety and trouble throughout the course, with water, sand and trees coming into play on most holes. A few holes really make you think off the tee—especially 2, 7 and 16, where driver isn’t always the obvious choice. No. 15 can be particularly tough, with water on both sides of the fairway around the typical landing area. The greens on 3 and 9 are memorable too, with water surrounding much of each green.

I also like the back-to-back par 5s on the front, which give you a couple of opportunities to score if you’re hitting it well. There’s a nice practice green and a driving range, so the practice facilities are solid.

Pace of play is usually decent, but can suffer at times. It is better when there’s a ranger sending groups off. Overall, Sugar Isle is a challenging, enjoyable course that’s typically in very good condition.

When my tee time at another course was cancelled because of bad, overnight weather, I called here. They were running fine, so I went here later that day.

Ok course. Conditions were very dry. Doesnt look like they have a watering system. Greens were very hard would not hold shots. Cart paths are jacked up but not a big deal. Enjoyed the fat mans misery tunnel to holes 15-18 though. Good layout just needs some water on the fairways and greens.

Fairly open and hard to get in trouble . Greens and fairways in good shape. Have old carts can't get around it part of the course is on the other side of a state route and the tunnel was designed for cattle not golf carts so the side of a golf cart scraps the walls. Carts do have club and ball washers on them which is awesome all courses should have these the only course I've ever seen them. Good value.

It’s a bit of a 30-minute drive from my house, but strangely enough, I find myself coming here often. The course and the condition of the grass aren't bad, but it is true that it is a bit expensive for the price. However, seeing the girls selling snacks gives me strength.

They need to water the greens because you can’t hit a 40 yard shot without it rolling off the back. The greens are way too firm
