About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Always a fun place to play
When my tee time at another course was cancelled because of bad, overnight weather, I called here. They were running fine, so I went here later that day.
Ok but very dry and hard greens roll forever.
Ok course. Conditions were very dry. Doesnt look like they have a watering system. Greens were very hard would not hold shots. Cart paths are jacked up but not a big deal. Enjoyed the fat mans misery tunnel to holes 15-18 though. Good layout just needs some water on the fairways and greens.
Standard country course
Fairly open and hard to get in trouble . Greens and fairways in good shape. Have old carts can't get around it part of the course is on the other side of a state route and the tunnel was designed for cattle not golf carts so the side of a golf cart scraps the walls. Carts do have club and ball washers on them which is awesome all courses should have these the only course I've ever seen them. Good value.
This golf course is like a drug.
It’s a bit of a 30-minute drive from my house, but strangely enough, I find myself coming here often. The course and the condition of the grass aren't bad, but it is true that it is a bit expensive for the price. However, seeing the girls selling snacks gives me strength.
Greens are too firm
They need to water the greens because you can’t hit a 40 yard shot without it rolling off the back. The greens are way too firm
Beautiful course in new Carlisle
Had a gold now deal with a buddy and one of or other buddies joined to play. It was nice that the staff was able to let him play with us and gave him the same deal even though he didn’t book on golfnow, so that was awesome. Tee boxes were in good condition, fairways were rolling and greens were soft. Great day on the course. Only thing that needs upgraded is the carts and some club house food. Would recommend to anyone and definitely going to play again.
Meh
Aerated greens still healing but that's understandable this time of year. The cart was a total dog. Had to keep choking and it would go about a hundred yards coughing and sputtering and back firing then die. Got stuck on hils and had to push to face downhill to get it going. Barely made it through 9 holes and switch carts to a nearly as bad one.
