About
Windmill Lakes Golf Club consistently ranks as one of the best courses in the state and is definitely the top golf course in northeastern Ohio. Located in Ravenna, it is the home course for the men's and women's golf teams at Kent State, which is only six miles east of the club. The large, undulating greens are the layout's defining feature. The greens also have a reputation for being some of the best-maintained in the area, allowing them to roll fast and true. The fairways, tee boxes, and rough also boast the same great conditions. More than 50 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the golf course and there are seven lakes that provide water hazards. The Windmill Lakes layout, which measures to just under 7,000 yards, only has two par 5s but there are several long par 4s that demand accurate drives and strong iron play.

The fairways and greens were in very good shape for April. The sand traps are under some renovation.

waited 10 min on every tee box. Besides that it was a blast. Very well Kept, couldn’t beat the price

Pros and cons
This would be one of the top courses around if they would put some money into a drainage system. Great layout with plenty of challenges with fast greens, however, the course is always wet most of the year.
Today, alot of balls lost due to cart path only. The course still has way too many leaves on the ground. Looked like they were just blown out of the fairways, so with cart path only, made it difficult to keep track of your ball when not hit in the fairways..

Proud to be my home course
I live on the east side of Cleveland, and there are plenty of courses close to me, but I gladly make the 50 minute drive in the dark on Sunday mornings to play Windmill. We are always one of the first groups out, so pace of play is never an issue. The course itself may not wow you right away. There really aren't any gimmicky holes, it's all right in front of you. What you will learn to realize is that Windmill is sneaky hard. It plays way longer than the yardage. There are subtle things that make it a true test of golf. Only two par 5's and they are both challenges to make par. The shorter par 4's are still tight and make you play shot makers golf. The biggest factor that puts windmill ahead of other public courses are the greens. Best Public Greens in NE Ohio. Bottom line. Always in fantastic shape, always rolling true, and always a pleasure to putt on. The staff at Windmill is amazing. Good people who take the time to know you. Lastly, the pro shop. Hands down the best around. Huge, tons of selection, tons of shoes. Do yourself a favor and go spend a day playing windmill. Test out some equipment. Grab some shoes or outerwear. I don't belong to a club because I don't have to. I've got all those amenities at Windmill.

Good NEO track
Definitely one of the better tracks in the area, definitely challenging with tight fairways! Course is generally in good shape all year around. Staff is awesome, pro-shop is my number one place to go for equipment, balls, and gear even if I’m not playing the course.

Although it was 45 degrees with a 1/2 “ of rain yesterday the course was still very playable. Pace was fast, we never had to wait on the tee.

Very disappointed
Absolutely no maintenance on removing of leaves. Four hours and 40 minutes to play 18 mostly looking for balls. Fairways were covered with leaves .They still charged 39.50 for 18 holes . Nothing special but they advertise on their card top 10 on golf advisor. Place sucked !
Yes fall golf . I did not see anyone doing anything about all the leaves . No blowers , mowers mulching in fact no one at all from the golf course staff seen on the course except for the starter. It takes people out doing work to help conditions. If not charge less.

Nice layout, good value
Windmill will challenge golfers of any handicap. The course is tough but you can score low if you keep it in the fairways. The greens are always pure and roll great. I will play this again.

Good, not exciting course
Well maintained course with conventional layout. Large, Fast greens can be challenging. Play can often be rather slow. Good deals can be found. GPS on cars a bonus.
