Manakiki Golf Course
        About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Great Muni track
Manakiki is a Donald Ross design, owned by Cleveland Metroparks. Typical of Ross, the greens are elevated, fast and have a lot of hidden breaks. Best maintained greens of any muni course I have played. The course is very well maintained--edged traps, really nice fairways. The course gets a lot of play so the tee boxes are a little chewed up. Pace of play is usually pretty good and the rangers keep things moving. $38 for senior rate with cart is a good deal. Staff are friendly and pro shop is well stocked.
Fun and Challenging Course
Great metroparks course that is well maintained with manicured fairways, soft greens, and clean tee boxes. Pace of play was excellent.
A bit overrated
The course is nice, but $75 for 2 and a cart to play 9 felt like a lot considering its a public metropark course. Greens were tough, course was in fairly good condition, but for the money I would expect a little more…
Donald Ross Track
Awesome! Great staff and conditions...pace of play was superb we were on a frost delay, being a two some groups were okay for us to go first, had the whole course to ourselves, perfect greens with proper speed...drove over an hr to play...Highly recommend!
Donald Ross gem
Course was in great shape for early May. Areas around the hazard areas and roughs were muddy in places (to be expected for this time of year), but all bunkers were dry and well-maintained! Greens were smooth and rolled very well! I traveled about 130 miles to play this course and was not at all disappointed.
A great course for our first time out this year!
Great play for early April! Course was still in great shape considering not being closed all winter long and with all the rain we’ve had so giving it a higher rating there. Decent amount of golfers out there but no one breathing down our necks. Club house guys were great, everyone was happy.
Course is good BUT
This was the first time I played this course! I was greeted by a very friendly starter! And grouped up with some guys! Pace was great for 8am! The course in beautiful (in the summer) I’m assuming! There were ALOT of leaves on the course! I can’t really knock it that much but when there are giant piles just off the fairway for slice, you’ll loose a couple.
And the only other knock, the greens are VERY bumpy and sandy! Chip up to the green, your ball will look like it’s in the bunker! Obviously I know the circumstances with the weather, so that’s while I’ll try this course out again next year!
Overall though, I had a fun and great round with the guys I met! Golf is supposed to be fun, and you play through the challenges you face! Even a sandy green! Haha.
No Mention of Sandy Greens
When you book a course as well know and challenging as Manakiki you do not want the surprises of sandy greens after punching when you drive 40 min to get there. If I would have known I would have choose a different course to play. Completely disappointed!!!
Great Course - Suffers from being too hard for Bad Golfers
This course is fantastic! Its challenging, yet fair. However, it suffers from slow play, due to 20+ handicappers playing from too far back and not having the skill to take on the course. If you can get out without a crowd this is the best of the Metropark courses IMO - but expect a 5-6hr round on a sunny Saturday.
Long But Fun
Still one of the nicest courses around. Recently aerated so greens are bumpy. At least 3 par 4's should be made par 5's. They are unreachable in 2. Pace wasn't bad for a Sunday.
Which Par 4's? It sounds like you should be playing from tee's that are further up. The Tips aren't even 7k and their are 5900, 6100, and 6600 tees.
Poor greens ☹️
Sadly, we were not made aware of the heavy green maintenance. Punched, and 7 were freshly sanded.
It’s very necessary work, but a heads up would have allowed us to make a better decision. Very disappointing round.
Its fall - you should know better

You are not real bright. Lots of courses punch greens that time of year. Did you call & ask about course conditions?? Idiot
