tough in places
seemed like it played mostly uphill. greens are generally elevated and have levels and considerable slope so getting anywhere above the hole is going to ciost extra strokes. fairways had good cover with the rough long enough to be sticky. bunkers need work as many were hard pcked dirt and ungroomed.
pace of play seemed quote slow front took 2 1/2 hrs and back 2 just seemed really slow as waited every shot.
Serious maintenance issues
The new owners have a huge challenge. Course suffers serious deferred maintenance issues. I won’t consider to replay until fall to see if there are any noticeable improvements.
Recent play
The course has just been acquired, and the conditions were ignored by the previous owners. I’ve always enjoyed the course, and truly expect vast improvements during this year. In addition to the course they need to expand parking area. I’ll be back!
Rude staff, extremely rude.
What a complete jerk , whoever runs the pro shop on Saturday mornings at this course. I just bought a house in the neighborhood. Saw that the course was open this weekend , figured I’d give it a shot. Booked a time. Show up, and greeted by an angry, rude, guy who says “I got nothin for ya bud” “too cold” it’s literally 50 degrees out.. “why’d you book an early time?” Why the f%% do you offer an early time? What a terrible first and definitely last impression of a course I heard bad things about but wanted to give a shot. Never again. Dude should be fired at the least.
Quirky holes
Very quirky holes but surprisingly fun, got a deal for 16 dollars rough walk. Would be very hard to justify paying full green fees, decent greens, slopey tee boxes, lots of low wet spots (irrigation issues), good majority of bunkers very low sand and liner coming through on walls. Good views tough walk 2.5/(
Vacation
I met two guys I had never seed before and they were members of the course. They instructed me were I needed to hit the ball . The course was super.
Rivers Edge
I could see how this was once a great track. Still quite challenging due to the terrain. Unfortunately it appears there is a fight between the developer and HOA as he wants to take out part of the course and add more homes. The course upkeep is suffering. Hope it works out.
terrible course
The course owner / developer is in a legal battle with homeowners and has let the course go. I quit after 9 holes. Course is in terrible condition, the grass in the fairways is long, most sand traps have more grass and weeds than sand, a few of what used to be ponds are now just big dry holes. save your money and play elsewhere.
Oddball layout in fair condition
Course is one of those weird layouts where they shoehorn a course in a canyon and try to make it work. Some holes are in decent shape but many are pretty beat up. Same for greens. Lots are pockmarked with some sort of blight. Very inconsistent speed of greens across the course. Signage is terrible so for first time players spent a lot of time trying to find the way to go. Price is high (cart is mandatory due to hills) so green fees + 30$ cart rental makes the value pretty low.
Very Sad to see the end of this course
Course was in excellent condition. We play it multiple times each year. Sadly it has been sold and will become houses. It is a fun and unique course.
River Edge
I have played this course at least a dozen times and still have not figured it out. Has a couple of really tough holes if your not put the ball in the fairway. #1 par 4 is a very interesting starting hole that most likely drops almost 200 feet around a corner. Also #16 par 3 does about the same thing but only 100 feet down. You don't really want to walk this course its a lot of up/down hills. Sometimes a long way from greens to the next tee. Fun place to play over all. Lots of golf courses in Bend to choose from just how much do you want to pay or torcher yourself. I play 130+ rounds a year and at the moment 9.4 handicap.
Course Being closed
It was fun layout wise, it’s a shame that its being sold. The course has been over run by gophers so you can have some trouble if you hit it in a gopher hole in the middle of the fairway. Greens were OK, some were inconsistent. I would have been fine paying 40$ for this course, but 70+ is not worth it.
