OK but disappinted
I thought in general the course was great, the people were great but there are three things that prevent me from recommending this course. I played here because my cousin met me from Vernonia. This also applies to weekend golf on a beautiful day. I have played at Forest Hill 6 times in the last 2 years.
First of all the hole placements were a joke. Instead of putting the hole on a flatter place, nearly every hole was on an angle and it took the fun of scoring and frustration into the game for all of us, including two young golfers that shared their criticism . Especially the first hole where it is nearly impossible to par or birdie. Even PGA events or higher rated courses will have an occasional one, but it got old fast and struck me for the kind of demographic you have as ridiculous.
Secondly,
Actually putting worn out AstroTurf out for a T-Box already into the month of June looks bad and makes me believe the course wasn't ready in time. Looked very cheap, ugly and unprofessional.
Finally, the pace of play was awful as we rarely hit two consecutive shots and we never saw a marshal the entire day. This makes me believe its all about the money on that nice day for the course and they really don't care if it's a 6 hour round.
Good value
A good course with many challenges, green is in great shape.
SUMMER CONDITIONS, FINALLY
Played at Forest Hills yesterday, had very nice weather, a bit breezy for a while, but had an outstanding time. Course is in excellent conditions, greens and fairways very firm. I had to shift my thinking from the winter 'short hop and stop' as the ball was bouncing and rolling for considerable distances, plan accordingly. Greens were fast and the bunkers are in very good shape.
tournament conditions
I thought my game (12 handicap) was in good shape until i got to the 3rd hole and slightly missed the fairway. The ruff is sticky and grabbed my club and i ended with my first double bogey of the day. I'm not complaining because i loved the challenge. The fairways and greens were in very good shape.
I will be back, because I need to improve on the 91 that i shot.
Grueling
Some par4 holes where 380 yards uphill against the wind making it 450 yards and that was off the front tees! Even though I Tee It Forward I generally found the course too difficult to enjoy. My partner and I were joined by another player by the 16th hole and he agreed with the difficulty . Long par fours with doglegs that made it very unlikely to make it on the green in two unless you could drive the ball close to 300 yards.
Odd Course
Can anyone tell me what I was charged from Golfnow?
Golf course aerated a few weeks ago.
Always like the course. Fairways recently aerated -- so, it was quite beat up. It should be better as the spring progresses.
review this
Short decent course, quite a few tee boxes under construction, greens were in good shape.
Great course to play
Course played very good. Greens were in really good condition. We'd had a lot of rain on the last weeks but this course overall was in very good shape. We ride on a cart and I'm glad we did since it is very hilly. Luckily for us today there was no rain.
Over Booked, Back and Forth only 9 holes
We had to play behind an EIGHT-SOME. Yes, they let us through, but proceeded to almost trample us from behind before we could get out and away. Not only that, but players were jumping all over the course, skipping holes, shooting towards us, etc. It was most unpleasant. Not necessarily the course's fault, but where was a marshall?
easy holes & challenging holes
The course is in good shape, The greens are still healing from being plugged. It was windy and blowing needles on a few of the greens. But playing very well
Good course in a country setting, well maintained.
The greens were in excellent shape, despite recent aeration, and had some challenging pin placements as well as frequent sloping. The sand traps seemed to often feature steep walls on the side against the greens. Lots of mature trees, good fairways, and on clear days nice views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. The online vendor deal made pricing attractive.
No Marshall on course
It took us three hours and 10 minutes to finish nine holes. There were no marshals on the course or any other employees. For a Sunday afternoon, this made for a very long round . The golf course was very busy due to a tournament that was just over when we teed off. Will not go back to course due to insufficient marshals on the course. This could've been easily avoided.
TRUE TEST
Great test of golf. Don't let the scorecard fool you. This course can challenge the lowest handicappers. Beautiful scenery, short drive from Portland. Went to a winery afterwards. Highly recommend.
Forest Hills, the second Oregon course that I have played
Forest Hills is a beautiful course in Cornelius, Oregon. It's surrounded by vineyards and farms that you can visit either before or after your round. The Course itself is very lush and green. The fairways were nice and lush and the bunkers were very well taken care of. The greens were the best part about the course, they were fast and surprisingly soft to land on. It is such a beautiful course, i found myself spending a few extra minutes taking photos here and there to remember it by. The 18th tee box is an especially nice view. I would definitely recommend and play again.
Challenging course. Ample hazards but not overpowering enough to spoil the round.
Being from Florida and not accustom to the hilly layout walking the course proved to be a bit difficult and probably accounted for some of the difficulties I experienced. The course itself was a real beauty. Fairway and greens were in excellent shape. I highly recommend this course if in the area.
Nice round of golf
Well spaced groups, well maintained greens. This was the fastest I've ever played there. Usually there are long waits on holes at Forest Hills. This day was a very appreciated exception. The Hills Burger was delicious!
Too many tee times booked. At one point there were 4 groups on a tee box.
Also I booked for a tee time of 13:40 but when I arrived I told I was wrong and my tee time was actually 14:40. I showed them my reservation(17031235 ) and the only thing they could do was send me straight to the tee box without any warm up or the range balls which were included.
Forest Hills is well maintained.
My foursome plays Forest Hills occasionally and enjoy the challenge. The fairways are green and well cared for. The greens are tricky to putt but are pretty well maintained. Overall the course is interesting and challenging for a 15 handicap.
this course has great features
good for everyone n the green is good......................
