McNary Golf Club
About
McNary Golf Club is located on the site that once was the homestead of Charles McNary (1874-1944), prominent Oregon Congressman, lawyer, and vice-presidential running mate of Wendell Willkie. Since he was an ardent golfer, it is appropriate that this course was named in his honor at its opening in 1962. The course was developed by Jim Sill who wanted to build an enjoyable course for the average golfer. Initially, the McNary home was used as the clubhouse. Today, modern clubhouse facilities, including the well known McNary Restaurant & Lounge, overlook the course. All the necessary amenities are available. The golf course features lush fairways, spacious greens, and hazards that provide a challenge for all golfers. Claggett Creek comes into play on holes 1, 9, 10, and 18. The challenge and beauty of the course has also been augmented with several small lakes with fountains.

The Houses Are an Optical Illusion
This course is not really as "narrow" as others make it out to be. Sure there are a lot of holes lined with houses on both sides, but most of those holes provide plenty of room from side to side for errant tee shots to still land in play. The yardage overall is also fairly short. This allowed me to keep my driver in the bag in favor of shorter more accurate clubs.
The greens run true and they normally have ability to hold iron/wedge shots better, but they seemed to be firmer than I had remembered. Keep this in mind when hitting out of the rough and other areas where you will not be able to generate a lot of spin.
All in all, I really enjoy playing McNary Golf Club and I highly recommend this course to anyone in the area. They also have pretty good food in the restaurant as well (especially happy hour).
VERY WELL MANAGED
COURSE WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, WELL GROOMED, BUNKERS AND GREENS WELL MAINTAINED. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND ACCOMODATING. WILL PLAY HERE AGAIN.
Unwelcome
We felt unwelcome from the guy who checked us in at the pro shop, his name is Larry. Don't know what his problem was but he made us feel like pond scum and he talked about us outside with other customers saying, we have to get rid of this golf now crowd. Next time I go, I won't be so nice.
Good course -- good value
I've played McNary G.C. a number of times over the years, and always enjoy an outing there. The only negative is that there are homes along the course; occasionally in danger of my errant tee shots! Not really, though, as you'd really have to be pretty far off to actually hit a house. Still, it can be done!
Great Value!
Played on a cloudy winter day after lots of rain. Course was in remarkable condition for as wet as it had been. Greens were excellent and fairly quick. Caught a shower for a couple of holes but it cleared off. Staff was very friendly and carts are pretty new.
McNary on the Dale
Play this course often, love everything about it. Sometimes they are a little slow to mow the fairways if there has been rain in the past few days. Great place to play and really great place to meet for dinner afterwards.
good course
the greens arent very consistant.im a member at this course and i like it and ive played here adleast 200 times.i golf for my high school called mckay.i think this course has good fairways but the greens are really the only problem and i give them 3 stars for the greens.sometimes there slow and sometimes there fast. and they usually keep the practice green in good condition.but other than the greens the course has deesent sand, they are not very fluffy but there not terrible.they usually keep the rough in an easy condition to get out of so its ok if you go into the rough.
Course in great shape, greens Quite fast
I Played with 3 others, of about the same ability as i enjoyed. the Round was very enjoyable.
Nice place

Too many houses
Nice course. Good condition. Greens nice.
TOO MANY HOUSES
Good course for most players
What a nice course, they have done a good job with maintaining course. Homes are not an issue, water comes into play. Interesting two green tenth hole. Will play again especially with GN hot deal
This course is in great shape.
The course is in great shape and the staff are super friendly and accommodating. Great afternoon!
Great course
Very friendly staff course was in great condition. Excellent value using golf now app
got to play a round with my dad.
No help in the bar.went to get some drinks and no one was there.
Well worth the trip
I got a great rate on golfnow mid week so drove down from Portland to play this course. A residential course well maintained with smooth greens. Most holes demand a well positioned tee shot for approach to the greens. A number of elevated two tiered greens made the course a challenge as it is not overly long. Not much scenery as it winds through residential homes and tees are far apart. Paired up with some good locals and had a fun day.
McNary Golf Club
Course is in great shape, greens were fast and true. The staff are very friendly, all in all an excellent golf outing !
Great little spot
I will be back!! This was a nice little track. There is a good mix of holes here that will keep you on your toes. Most holes are tree lined but you do have some room to move and there is a little water but easily avoidable. I think once the green heal up a little more from getting plugged they will be rolling really nice, a little bumpy right now. The only gripe I would say would be the bunkers. That sand is so soft and fluffy and really hard to rake smooth. Overall a great experience, clubhouse staff was awesome!!
