Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Fun course
I played on a Sunday morning..pace of play was great..the course was in immaculate shape..I’ve played 5 different courses since the reopening this one was by far in the best shape and most fun.. the staff is excellent and I believe that the course layout and tight fairways improves your golf game..I would highly recommend

Website errors.
The website worked the first time I used it. This last time I recieved error messages. I was billed twice for the same tee time. Big complaint is there is no one to talk. Phone number. Don't think I will use this site again. Need my funds return ASAP please...!!!

Excellent City Course
I've played several of the NYC courses (Dyker Beach, Marine Park, Forest Hills), and this one, in a close run with Marine Park, is the best in the 5 boroughs. The topography of the property is interesting, and the course design makes great use of it. There are a lot of elevated greens that make for curious 2nd shots. The course is a little shorter than your average, but the use of the elevation makes up for it. Highly recommended for the urban golfer.

Rain check
This has nothing to do with the course itself. I had a 3:12 tee time, and due to an extreme thunderstorm, I only played 5 holes. Golfnow has arguably the worst customer service ever. Golfnow doesn’t even have a human being on their customer service line about getting this fixed. I called the course itself and they offered no refund, as I was told by the rude woman on the phone.
Nice course, Great condition.
The course was in excellent condition even though there were thunderstorms the day before. Don't know if they staggered the tee times due to COVID or if I just got lucky; but there was nobody in front of us and we were able to get the round in very quickly. The fairways are narrow but not unreasonable (If you miss the fairway you can usually find the ball and punch it back out). Some elevated greens and Doglegs make up for the short yardage. Fun Course, will definitely put it in my playing rotation.

Starts the minute I get there when I see Steve the starter - he’s a fun dude and also very professional.
The course is in fantastic shape and I commend the folks who worked so hard to keep it up during the pandemic.
I played there twice, both as a single, and I was paired with very friendly people.
In fact everybody there is welcoming. There is one hole drives me nuts but since I was fortunate to par it today I’ll be less harsh. 7th.
Fairway slopes a LOT left to right.
All the holes are challenging and if you walk the course, you’ll lose 10 pounds. Very hilly!
Speaking of weight, I’m addicted to grilled hot dogs which I won’t pass up at the turn!

The Lake
I've been playing this course since I'm a kid and always enjoy my round here. And now, with the Covid guidelines in effect , Silver Lake is unquestionably the best course on SI. Course conditions are very good and pace of play is good with the 12 minute tee time intervals...even though I usually play first thing in the morning and it's always a quick round.

where are the rangers for slow walkers?
I don't care how good or bad anyone is but there should never be 3 holes open in front of any group. The first 3 holes are right in front of the clubhouse. When I see a group of walkers who are clearly out of shape, in long trousers, on a 90 degree day, hitting off the back tees and flubbing every other shot, someone should have said something to them once they got a full hole behind. They clearly had less golf etiquette than skill because they constantly all stood there many times forgetting who hits next and chit chatting on tee boxes and greens without a clue or care that there wasn't a soul in front of them for nearly the entire round. Bad players should bring extra balls rather than waste time constantly looking for balls. Very frustrating because one bad group can ruin a course for the rest of the day and their lagging should have been noticed with the hole and a half gap coming off the front. I'm sure groups behind us were at nearly 6 hr pace.

Very nice course, with great deals for early bird. Played the back 9 - wet conditions but course was well kept. Will definitely be coming back
