South Shore Golf Course

Charging $80 for this course should be illegal. When we arrived to the course we had to wait after our tee time for a cart because there were none available. There was no grass or markers on the many of the tee boxes and the greens might as well have been bunkers. Our round was even worse with the group in front of us playing from the blue tees but being incapable of hitting it passed the red tees. There was no ranger going around the course for pace of play which was definitely needed. Tire marks tearing the fairway and fringe on par 3s could have easily been patrolled and prevented. On a 90 degree day you would think they would have water available... nope. There was actually a water fountain that was destroyed which didn't help anyone. Overall, a horrible experience and wouldn't recommend this course to anyone. A waste of time and money.

Overall course is in good shape, but several greens on the back 9 were apparently vandalized but are improving. Pace of play was great, under 3 hours with cart. It’s a fun layout, lot of variety in the holes, for a public golf course at a discounted rate its great value, full rate with cart it’s overpriced.

Although it rained the night before the condition of the course bad. Just about every tee box was mud. A few greens are still recovering from vandalism. Used to be one of my favorite courses and I hope by next season they will have figured out how to get plush tee boxes again. They should not charge more than $40 with cart in the condition it is in.

Place stinks. It’s up for sale and you can tell. Telling us cart path only when 5 of the greens have longer grass than the fairway and every team box is a pig pen.

Looking to spend alit of money on a goof course with crappy conditions for 5 hrs look no further The tee boxes were dirt with a few patches of grass, and the greens were aerated and covered in sand making it impossible to putt At the turn i waited 20 mins to get water and a snack. There was only one person working (inefficiently) causing huge back ups on the course. I couldnt wait a lifetime so went without. No cart girl and no water supplied on the course American Golf you ought to be ashamed if what you did to this facility

Mike & his staff were tremendous during my recent memorial fundraiser. Anything we needed we had immediately. The pace was excellent and our players really enjoyed the course. We’ll do it all again next year!

Ranger had an attitude about carts not on the cart path when nobody stated it was cart path only, course was run down compared to what it looked like a few weeks ago. Greens are usually pure but this round they were unkept and filled with divots. No mention that a few holes on the back 9 were being worked on and greens were unplayable prior to booking tee time. Ranger kicked us off the course on hole 18, didn’t allow us to finish the final hole of the day. They charge a premium price for a sub par course.

A 1/3 of the greens were all sand and the bunkers are trash. Not worth the money…

I wanted to like this course so much but the sandy greens, hornet attacks and overall conditions were so bad it makes silver lake feel like pebble beach.

Some tee boxes are not in good shape and should be seeded and closed off. 3 greens were sanded but oters in great shape.

Got a hot deal for a Saturday afternoon round prepaid. Second time here, went in 2022 and really no issues, not the same the second time around. Maybe 3/18 tee boxes were level and grass, most were dirt mud and hilly, finding even ground for your tee shot shouldn’t be difficult. The back 9 was where things got really bad. Every other green was sanded so much that sand would fly up when the ball landed on it. 3 separate holes had so many sand hornet nests that we couldn’t even chip or putt without being swarmed. Bunkers were basically just dirt and if your ball was even a few yards off the fairway on any hole you’re likely shooting out of some dried up mud patch. No course should be in this poor condition at the end of July. For context I’ve been using GolfNow for 3 years and have never left a review good or bad but I was pretty disappointed in the cliff the conditions of this course have fallen off. Won’t be coming back until it’s cared for better

I’ve played this course several times throughout different times of the year. This time around (July) was pretty terrible. They have a very serious problem of murder hornets all around the greens and even in some fairways. We’re talking close to a 1000+ on some greens. You end up having to leave the ball on the green and move onto the next hole. This happened several times throughout the round. Very clear that they are not doing anything about it. Definitely my last time playing this course. Staten Island courses in general are pretty bad to begin with, but today was very disappointing. Lastly, don’t even bother looking at the menu in the “clubhouse” - apparently they don’t keep those things in stock and the GM is too lazy to do anything about it.

Good value, good pace of play, nice course layout. Teeboxes and bunkers need some work but fairway and greens in great condition. Overall great experience, would definitely play again.
