behind 5some on first hole
our 4some likes this course, but they allowed a 5some to tee off before us on the first hole. after a few holes of really slow play, i ask them about the 5some, and they said it was permitted. they then allowed us to play though. smooth sailing after that. course in great shape.
Excellent condition
The course was in great shape, tee to green. We played in just over 3 hours, as an outing cleared the course just before we tee'd off. Fairways, and tee boxes were good. Greens ran fast and true. The par 3s have some length to them, but many of the par 4s are short. Until hole 17. 450 yard par 4, which finished uphill and into the prevailing wind. Nobody in our group reached in regulation. Not even close. 18 is 430 yards, but downhill and with the wind it played much easier. The restaurant was good, but could use some additional draft options.
Stay on the Fairway
Course was in great shape except for a few greens. Holes became quite challenging if you didn't hit the fairway. The rough was thick with clover and the tree lined fairways would cost you strokes.
New course for me
This course just came on Golfnow. Pace a play was good up to 15. Got behind a foursome. And play came to a complete stop. I was playing as a single. Love the course layout. For you people that can read. Please read about golf Etiquette and let people play through.
greens in terrific shape
greens and sand bunkers in nice shape. not much to complain about here.
Outstanding Greens
The course was in very good condition tee to green, and the greens were simply outstanding! Fast, smooth, and fairly hard. They had no blemishes. The course has just about everything: doglegs, elevation changes, water, and greenside bunkers. The bunkers have the best sand I've played this year.
The carts operate on gas, and they've seen a lot of miles. Ball washers are available at most tees. Drinking water stations are limited to entrances of the two funky tunnels under Ritner Highway (US 11) that are barely big enough to get a cart through. The only tees with listed rating and slope are the whites and reds. Blues (longest) and blacks (second shortest) are not listed.
I did not have any contact with the staff other than booking our tee time. Therefore, I'm not rating the staff. There is a clean, modern restaurant which we did not use; so, I'm not rating food service.
Fun quirky older course
I had a very good time at Cumberland, made better by the fact I played with a nice threesome, one of whom knew the course pretty well. There are a number of interesting holes with elevation chanes, severe doglegs, risk/reward and of course the not-for-the-claustrophobic cart tunnel underneath Route 11.
The staff did not expect me, were a little unhappy a discount tee time was offered on Good Friday, but did get me out fairly promptly. While they did not overtly try to make me feel unwelcome, there was an air of that due to the circumstance regarding my GolfNow booking.

singles have no standing on the course ... that is a rule ... please read the rules before whining ...
