Not worth the money
Everything from tee to green was in bad shape, the rough, the fairway, the tee boxes (also winter tees). The greens were the only redeeming quality of the course, they were in incredible shape, had a plethora of difficult undulations, and they ran SO fast. I really loved the challenge of the greens, but everything else about this course was terrible. Most likely won’t play here again. Looking at what other courses are charging, and quality of courses, seems pretty wrong for melrose to be charging $60 for March golf with the course in such bad shape.
Slopes slopes slopes
Not a bad course at all! Had troubles finding where to start the 5th hole but it was a nice fun course!
Fun
Played this course in late December but still had a blast. Very good course for being so late in the season. Definitely recommend.
Tees moved up for winter
Course in good shape for winter conditions. Greens are fast and rolls true. Only drawback was the tees were moved up on most of the holes. So we were essentially playing from women's tees.
Unsure of opinion
Short course, tough shots, not so good conditions. Many holes don't have a safe bail out area. People having to yell "fore" from 2 fairways over. Large slopes allow balls to roll 100 yards and finish out of bounds. Lots of blind shots. I'm sure conditions are much better in season. Mixed feelings about this course.
How?
Good: V. accommodating & friendly personnel; excellent hotdogs & bar & 19th hole room.
& Bad: The only way this course stays open is that there's no competition in the proximate geography -- front 9 layout is silly, and w/ the conditions as bad as they are, alwsys requiring a trick shot of some sort; greens are fast (good), but continually roll-off stupid (bad); v. poor tee boxes consisting of dirt/mud only; cartpath in non-repair, etc., etc.
Fun and challenging
This course was so much fun. Many hills and valleys to deal with. Greens very fast. Overall course condition was excellent. Tee boxes need some work. Beautiful scenery.
