tough greens
I used to caddy there years ago and played often. This year I played in two events there with the improvements by Stephen Kay. Tree removal improved playability and sight lines of this wonderful old course. Bunkers are restored and in good shape while the greens remain the toughest around with nary a flat spot on any of them. If you are putting from above the hole you better be very defensive. Practice facility is state of the art.
Torresdale Frankfort - New Union League course
I was interested to see this course after the Union League took it over and put a lot of money into it. The facilities are very nice, although I did not eat - the restaurant looked beautiful and the locker room was great.
The course itself was very nice, I played from the middle tees so I didn't get the full brunt of the course - but the greens were extremely quick. On 1 my playing partner putted past the hole and it rolled back in - I would actually say on one or two holes it was a little unfair. Don't miss long, and make sure to not short side yourself, in addition to the greens being quick, they were small and sloped.
some well placed fairway bunkers came into play for me, and some other tough challenges to the course.....very nice place to play a challenging round.
FYI
Willie Campbell never touched this course... James Campbell, no relation, laid out the initial 9.
