Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Beautiful setting - relaxed pace
This was our first time playing the course. It was extremely hot at the time we played and I never saw a drink cart (2:30 tee time). That being said, I would not hold this small detail against the course. It was a beautiful course, with some very challenging holes. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The food was good although I only bought a beer and an ice cream. I would love to go play this course again in the near future.
Hickory Valley Ambassador Is Challenging and Fun!
We played the Hickory Valley Ambassador course on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. There are two 18 hole courses at Hickory Valley and it is a busy place. The staff was quite friendly and everything was efficient and well managed. A stream runs through the Ambassador course so you should bring a few extra balls! The condition of the course was excellent although the greens were slow. We played in four and one-half hours which is pretty good for a busy Sunday. We will definitely return!
What an amazing review! Thank you so much! We pride ourselves on being efficient and well-managed so we will make sure to pass along the message! We look forward to seeing you out again on the course!
Turns and Tightness
Lots of dog-legs and some very tight tree-lined fairways. Many greens have some significant slopes and all were in very good shape (medium speed). Challenging layout that’s well deserving of the 132 Slope (White Tees).
A good deal at $28.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such a detailed review of the course! We're glad to hear you got a great deal and we hope you come back again soon!
Public course that looks and feels private!
This is a great course with well laid out holes and perfectly manicured. It is a public course with a private country club feel. I will definitely be back!!!
Vincent - we appreciate the amazing review! We're glad you enjoyed the vibe and we can't wait to have you back! See you soon!.
ambassador course
GREAT DAY for golf. Very slow pay for time of day and number of people on the course.
STAFF WAS OUTSTANDING.VERY HELPFUL .
We're sorry to hear the pace of play wasn't what you had hoped for. Unfortunately, Saturdays are a busy day for us at the course! We love hearing our staff is outstanding and we will make sure we pass that message along! Thanks again!
Excellent Course
The Presidential at Hickory Valley is an excellent layout. The fairways and greens were in terrific shape although I found the greens a bit slower than I would have imagined.
The only negative was that the traps were undergoing major work and looked as though they had been washed out by recent weather.
Other than that a great experience. Played first thing and had entire course open in front of me ... finished in 2'45".
Wow MJonathan.... 2'45"! You made great time! We're glad to hear you enjoyed the course. We appreciate the excellent review and we hope to have you back sooner than later!
Fun to play here
Played as a single in just over 3 hours in late afternoon Friday. Course was in very nice condition and fun to play. Only complaint was that both of the drinking water containers were empty by the time I got to them. I had my own water so it was not a big problem for me.
We're happy to hear you had a great afternoon with us! We'll let the appropriate people know about the water containers being empty! Thanks for letting us know!
The course offers challenge for all levels
Greens a little on the slow side but in great shape
Thank you so much for the great review! We hope to see you back soon!
Most enjoyable day
Played the Presidential course for the first time. I was looking for a good course while in town and found a good rate on my Golfnow app. I was not disappointed. Started as a single but quickly hooked up with a 2some that were a pleasure to play with. Fairways were well groomed and greens smooth. Only complaint was a couple of bunkers were a little thin with sand. Would definitely play again
Thank you so much for the glowing review! We appreciate you taking time to review us! We are so glad you had a great day and hope we see you sooner than later!
Good Course/Great value
Course is in excellent condition.
No cart girl or refreshments at turn yet.
We really appreciate you taking time to review our course and are happy to hear you enjoyed the course. Cart girl/refreshments coming soon!
Presidential
Realized I left my sticks in the garage I was running 40 mins. late after going back to get them.
The starter sent me out on the Pres. Even though I was scheduled for the Ambassador. After a 4 some let me through I had the course to my self. The grounds crew seemed to be wrestling with the irrigation system resulting in some casual water. The course kicked my butt but I look forward to playing there again.
Thanks for your review Francis! We're happy to hear that our staff was helpful and accommodating! We can't wait to have you back!
THE GREENS WERE TOO SLOW
IT WAS A VERY ENJOYABLE DAY.
THE GREENS ALTHOUGH CUT WERE TOO SLOW EVEN FOR A HIGH HANDICAPPER.
We're so happy to hear you had an enjoyable day! We're sorry to hear that the greens were too slow. We will definitely take this into consideration when improving the course! Thank you!
Good Shape for early May
Played on a Friday pm using last minute golfer site. A great value at $22 including cart. The course was very lush in most areas but some fairways and tee boxes were suffering winter kill from the harsh winter. The maintenance crew is doing their best to bring the course back. About 1/2 dozen of the worst fairways were roped off and cart path only as they were punched and over seeded. It did not really impact playability though except a couple tee boxes were closed and they created a temporary tee box on those holes either adjacent or in front of the closed tee box. The greens were all in good shape and putted true although they were a little on the slow side. I would guess about 8 on the stimp. Pace of play was excellent at about 3 1/2 hours. We teed off at 2 pm as a threesome and did not run into another group until the ninth hole. We played the front in 1.5 hours. Only downside was halfway house was closed. I expect this course will be in great shape in a couple of weeks now that the warm weather is here and the grass is growing in.
Thank you for taking the time to review our course. Yes, the winter was harsh and we are doing everything to get the courses in awesome shape! We're heading into warm weather and we should see a turn around soon! Come back out and see us again soon!
good challenge and value.
Nice course. Good hole spacing. Sand and water hazards.
Thanks for taking the time to review our course! We really appreciate it!
Great value for the price !
Perfect day , the course was in great shape for early spring ! Will be back to play with friends !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the great review! We can't wait to have you and your friends back!
Presidential
The Presidential course at Hickory Valley is much more difficult than it's sibling the Ambassador. Both courses are relatively flat, which makes them very walkable. The greens hold shots very well and roll true.
Beautiful in great shape
Played this course at noon on 11-4-14. The staff was friendly and helpful. Had a good lunch before we played, good food at fair prices. Carts were not new but in great shape. Course conditions were excellent. All Tee boxes and fairways in great shape. Greens very nice and putted fast and true. Only negative were rude golfers slow and hit numerous balls. On one tee a guy hit 5 different balls while we were sitting waiting to play.
Hickory/ambassadoriu
Conditions were good, greens were very nice, looked good but we're slower than appeared. Overall had a good time
Great value but round took 4.5 hours
Probably related to the skill level of the golfers ahead of us, plus too closely packed tee times. There wasn't even a starter out there. But for $25, can't complain too much.
Better courses for the same amount of money in the area.
I've played this course many times over the years, and have also played just about every course with in an hour of King of Prussia. Fairways seemed like they hadn't been cut in a few days and the greens were very shaggy and sloooowwww. Other than a 18 (which is a very difficult drive), it is an interesting layout that requires accuracy off the tee to score well. The variety of holes is enjoyable.
There was a very slow threesome holding up the course, but eventually we played through on the back nine and had a great pace after that. At $35 on golfnow for an afternoon tee time it was worth it, but full price is way too high.
