Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Golfer Reviews
One of the best
This was definitely one of the nicest courses I have ever played and probably the hardest too. Fairway turf was tremendous and the bunkers were soft and always raked. Pace of play was not an issue at all as we played on a Saturday late morning. We were a two some and no tee time behind even got out 15 minutes early. Never had a problem. Lots of narrow tee shots. Couple that with the beer and the back nine got the best of me. Can't speak for the value of a full price round, but for the $25 we spent on group golfer vouchers, it was a great day. The Ambassador is nice, but this course has the feel of something far beyond just "nice."
Ambassador
We played the Ambassador course. It is a good course for beginners as it is not overly long and you certainly won't find many bunkers. A decent amount of doglegs will challenge the advanced golfers. We teed off a little after 2pm on a weekend. It is expected to be crowded so when nobody was in front of us, it was awesome. We flew through the front nine but then hit a wall on 11. It was at least 20 minutes a hole after that. I wouldn't want to know the pace in peak time.
One of my favorites so far.....
I would have a difficult time finding another course this nice for the money. I can't write a single thing negative about it. Other than my score, I would duplicate everything about my golfing experience here again and again. I plan on coming back and playing both course on the same day.
waste of money
please don't waste your time, no rangers to help with pace of play which is super slow, have people playing in tank tops, course layout isn't too good....no yardage markers horrible
Difficult but Fair
Almost every hole had some form or forms of water.
Course is well designed and fairways and greens are in great shape.
Just need to drive in fairways, stay out of hazzards and hit the greens!
I will definitely play again!!!

Great value and in very good condition
Played the Ambassodor course for the first time and was very impressed! Had a $20 hot deal and the course and greens were in excellent condition. Long hitters keep the driver in the bag! Narrow fairways and a bit challenging. Great value!
Hi Null8872309...

Sincerely,

Number 9 is my favorite hole in the area
The course overall is challenging with the exception of a couple short par 4's. Par 3's challenging and some monster par 5's. Right balance of dog legs. I enjoyed it and will play it again.
Glad to hear you had an enjoyable experience and we are looking forward to having you back for another round!
Great Course Layout
i played the Ambassador course on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly the pace of play resulted in a four hour round. The course was in great shape but the layout was the most impressive. The tee boxes for the most part are steps from the previous green which helps the pace of play. i am looking forward to playing the Presidential course next.
Thank you Luther4063056 ! We're thrilled that you enjoy our layout and we appreciate the compliments. You'll love our Presidential course - please come back and play anytime!
wow
Hickory Ambassador is in great shape. Greens roll very nice. I have nothing bad to say except for the pace. We flew through the first 8 holes before we caught up with the traffic. But happy to be out regardless.
Thanks for the 5 stars! We are happy you enjoyed your round and we cant wait for you to come back again!
Very nice.
I have played this course several times over the past 25+ years but hadn't played it in about 10 years. It was quite enjoyable. I was there on the Monday afternoon after the Masters. Weather forecast had been threatening which might have explained why there was essentially no one there. The condition of the course this early in the season was remarkable. Very tidy. This is a challenging track with several long par 4"s and tight fairways on the back 9. Only complaint was the greens which were bumpy form recent aeration bu that's to be expected. Overall a good time and a great value with a Hot Deal.
Great review! We appreciate your business and look forward to you coming back soon!
Not too shabby
Thought I would be playing by myself but it was busy. The pace was fine once we teed off though. I prefer the Presidential but the Ambassador is in good shape. I'm just not a fan of #9 or 10. 9 would be better as a par 4 with a strategic lay-up. All in all Hickory Valley remains a top course in the area regardless Of the outrageous prices charged at Bella or the Claw most times. The Presidential is an awesome track! Probably the best public course around!
See you again soon.
Jesse
Thanks for the great review! We hope to see out here soon!
Presdential Course
Was a beautiful day both on the course and after the course ! Excellent value and had a beautiful day with my 2 boys ! Best of all was the friendliness of the staff ! 2 of the staff members helped me fix my flat tire on my truck after playing golf here ! Didn,t have a jack and they kindly lent me theirs ! Absolutely awesome ! That,s the best way I can describe it ! Will definitely play again !
Awesome! Great review! Thanks for coming out and we hope to see you again!
Good layout no maintanace
Winter rates but no rakes in the sand traps. Did not whip the greens is was like no one worked there. I have played this course before and it was great .
Thank you for the review! As we come into season things will be improving! Thank your for your feedback.
Course was over booked
We showed up 10 minutes early for our tee time and had to wait behind a rush of people who all checked in at the same time. There was 12 people waiting on the 1st tee at our scheduled tee time. When I approached management in the pro shop I was told they book tee times every 10 minutes, meaning that over an hours' worth of reserved tee times showed up at the same moment in time. I'm not buying that nonsense and these events added over an hour to our round which ended up not being a very enjoyable experience. Additionally when we went to tee off on hole 11 there was no flag anywhere to be found on the green. I grabbed a branch from the woods so the group behind us would have a target to shoot at.
I realize it's early in the season but there's no excuse not to have a starter. Stay away from this course as it is run very poorly.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your round. With it being early in the season we understand that there are going to be hit or miss moments on our course as the season gets going. On this particular day there was no ranger and we recognize this mistake. We did however offer the golfer to start off the back 9 since there was a wait to tee off on the first tee and the golfer declined to do so. We hope that you come back to Hickory Valley and give us a second chance so that we can exceed your expectations the next time you play.
Awesome
Easily in the top 3 public courses in Philadelphia area. It's like all of the other great courses but without out any developments surrounding the fairways. It's all farm and forest! If I lived closer I'd play the Presidential every time. You have to use course management to score well here, as you can't just go from hole to hole blasting the ball with a driver. Lots of dog legs, hazards, and tricky greens. The best part is the serenity. Again, no developments or power plants around!
5 Stars! Thanks for the review and we hope to see you again soon out here at Hiackory Valley!
Thanks for playing! Please come back and play again soon!
