Golfer Reviews
Great early season form
Been playing this one for many (10+) years and am happy to say this course is the best in the Harrisburg area. Greens were true and fairways lush with springtime growth. Tree removals on the back nine will help to improve the greens on the trouble-prone par fives. All in all, a wonderful experience for our group. ENJOY!!!
Great early season condition
Even though the greens were aerated, the course was in great condition for the first weekend in April. It handled the winter very well. The staff was outstanding and accommodating.
Fun Course to play
Even though we are just coming out of winter the course conditions were good. Challenging but open course makes for a fun round.
Would play again. Green fees are reasonable.
Beautiful course
The course is in great shape, considering that it is almost November. It is always a challenge to play this course, because you have hitting the ball well to score. But it has a top notch practice facility, and some of the friendlist service of any course in the area.
Play here a few times a year
The tees, bunkers and fairways are always in great condition. Greens can be hit and miss though. Sometimes a little slow / bumpy and other times lightening fast. I think that is a result of the weather we've had lately.
Good course and fun to play. The wind can make some of the holes brutally hard but that's golf.
Worth the drive.....
Living in York county Pa this course is one of our groups favorites. We try to get there at 4 or 5 times a season, never found to be in poor conditions. Great vistas!
We consider Dauphin to be a premier course with reasonable fees.
Back 9 too slow!
Would have been highly rated were it not for a painfully slow back 9. We finished front in 2:10, but back took 2:45. No good! Even called clubhouse, who sent someone out to try speeding up, but did no good.
worth the drive
course was aerated called earlier in the week asked if any plans to aerate they said no course was still enjoyable one of my favorites drove 90 miles to play would have waited a week or two if I knew
Challenging and great place to play
The course was in excellent condition. Sand traps were being refilled to new sand. Tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition. Course is challenging and a lot of fun. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Has gone downhill
I have to say, I don't know what some of these reviews are talking about. I grew up in this area and this course used to be much, much nicer than it is these days. It's not a bad track, but they charge far too much money to justify going here.
Rough is quite patchy in areas, greens are in abysmal shape in some places. Some have fans set up to keep them dry due to deterioration that has already set in. Some significant drainage issues in areas too, particularly #2 and #3.
If you can get on for a discount rate, go for it. Otherwise, I'd head elsewhere in the Harrisburg area, plenty of good options available.
Challenging course, Almost unplayable swarms of gnats...
The course is very hilly and nicely kept. Tons of sand traps. It rained all morning and they didn't call it and on top of that there were swarms of gnats at every shot which just about made the course unplayable. Nice looking course and well kept but overpriced.
Decent course
This course is getting better & better each year since new ownership last year. If your not careful you can easily get yourself in trouble with the challenging slopes on some of the holes. Greens are tough to read so bogies were common. All in all people were friendly and helpful. I always have a great experience when I golf there.
Good Course
Unquestionably a nice course. Staff is great. Greens were a little slow this particular day, but they were receptive to approach shots and mostly ran pure when putting.
Highlands
Nice course. Has 5 different tee boxes to choose from.
Not worth the high price
Used to be a great course but is going down hill. The bunkers need a lot more sand and need to be raked. They are almost never raked and it is like hitting off concrete. Greens seem to have 3 different grasses growing on them. Their new flag sticks are ridiculously short. About 5 feet tall. Makes them very hard to see from slopes and distances. They also have new checkered flags which are hard to tell the difference ffrom front and back pin placements.
Need new carts
The cours was in great shape. It presents a variety of a challenging holes and 5 sets of tee boxes. The only issues is they need new carts really bad! Those carts are from the 60's. Old, no power, and just old
A great place to play, greens need work.
This was my 2nd time playing at Dauphin, 1st time this year. Was a little disapointed, in condition of greens. The greens were very spotty on the course. Also the front nine was soaking wet from watering, and our tee time was 1:45. Not sure I understand that one. However this course has great character and I hope to play again. Please give an honest feedback as I did not read any that stated the condition of greens in recent feedbacks.
Nice course but need course ranger
Course was well maintained except for some sand traps that were not maintained. Course play was fine on the front nine, terrible on the back. We were on pace for a 5 hour plus round due to a foursome holding up everyone. No ranger to be found. Course is still one of the best public courses around, but I will think twice about the slow rounds.
Fun Course
Course in great condition. Although crowded, the pace of play was excellent for a holiday. Wide fairways and large multi tiered greens which required precise iron shots, or 3 putts were a distinct possibility. An enjoyable day on the links.
