Fun course
Great layout, challenging, great views. Unfortunately pace of play was very poor (5 hour round).
Don't forget anything in the cart when you leave
Enjoy playing there but twice in the last 3 years I left my range finder behind. Both times I never got it back
This course has great features
The course was very well-maintained, not a lot of tree trouble or hazards. It is truly a beautiful course in the greens are pure.
Slow play
Should have a ranger to warn players to increase speed of play. It took 2 hours and 45 to play nine holes behind a very slow foursome. Very nice course otherwise.
Was a treat to play this course.
Played this course twice. Love everything about it. Now a favorite for the money.
Not what it used to be
There was a time some would consider this a premier public course, but it is going downhill. Greens are rather pock-marked, rolled smooth but the grain is significant. Fast one way, very slow the other. This happens.
The tees were in really bad shape, hard to find a decent place to tee off on some holes. Why? We had no sand mix in our cart, so we stopped at #1 tee to get a full bottle. ALL 30 or 40 bottles were entirely empty; no wonder the tees and fairways are looking so bad. This was a nice course - in times gone by.
50 years playing, about 10th visit to DH.
Very friendly staff
Excellent condition, very good value for money. Staff were very helpful. All in all a great day of golf.
First time we played here
Excellent course. Great condition and excellent staff. Play was a little slow but not to bad
I have a new favorite
Maybe it was just my day. I played well. Played with three well mannered golfers.
The course far exceeded my expectations.
Great conditions but slow play
Course in great shape. Don’t think should allow people to walk on a busy Sunday afternoon. It seemed to very slow the pace of play. Took 5 and half hours to play this afternoon. Otherwise great experience as golf course is in great shape and greens were fantastic.
Not sure what all the fuss is...
The course is alright, but I've often been told, "you gotta play Highlands". As my title stated, not sure what all the fuss is. The layout is okay, the conditions are average, the pace of play this particular day was horrible (due in part by the twosome I was paired with), 2B limestone rocks in a few sand traps, and a few tee boxes felt like a slip n slide with loose sand all over them.
Not my first round here and not bad enough to make it my last. Just not impressed with this course in general. Hot Deals and 15 minutes from my house make it an option from time to time but there are several courses in the area with far better conditions and a more economical price.
Well rounded course
For my first time playing this course, I must say I was impressed with the conditions. Aerated greens were not a problem; ball was rolling quite well on the greens.
Pace of play can be a bit slow but that's always subjective (I still finished my round in 5 hours which I think is fine)
Steady Decline
I play Dauphin Highlands a few times a year and have been doing so for 4-5 years now. This is the worst I have seen the course. Firstly, in my bucket of balls on the range, 6 of them were broken. The pace of play, particularly on the front 9 was slow, we waited on many tees, which pace has always been an issue. Then, the majority of the greens were littered with divot marks, old and new. There was sand all over the tee boxes as well, also with unrolled divots, even on par 4 and 5’s. Then, as we were making the turn, we were notified that there was league play beginning and that groups would be “mixing in” with us as we continued play on the back 9. This is unacceptable, particularly for how much the greens fees have gone up over the years. The staff did not have a good explanation other than that “management” was to blame for our tee times being allowed booked, knowing that league play would be coming in. This is all disappointing and it’s sad to see Dauphin Highlands in this state, a steady decline in quality over the years, with an increase in price to boot.
