Challenging course in great shape
Pristine conditions.
First time playing the course this year.... played it once a year ago,
Sand traps are difficult, if you’re close to the lip, big trouble.
One complaint.
Either have diagrams of the hole on the tee box or on the scorecard.
On a number of holes the location of the green is guesswork, for a player not familiar with course.
And, there are many blind shots from the fairway.
Fun evening
Course was in great shape. Staff was very friendly. Only drawback is #18 green. Rather silly for a public course. A little extra annoying when everyone is moving along the entire round and the major back up starts on #17 because of #18 green. Otherwise, a fun time and great value.
nice course
Redoing the pro shop .Couse was nice. My pet peeve with young golfers you should not play the back tees unless you a single digit handicap. Went to another course today same thing. Play the appropriate tees people.
A Donald Ross Gem
What a great track and design! Not at all long but strategy is key on every shot because approaches to greens are if tantamount importance as they are devilishly sloped with false fronts, domed and slick.. To have this public Donald Ross track in SE PA is such a gift! Work is being done on tee boxes in about 4-5 holes and this will enhance playability in the coming months. Cart paths are disintegrating everywhere so walking is a better option to fully appreciate the wonderful design by Mr. Ross. This course is tough, with the greens being it's biggest defense and will serve up some humble pie to you, but you'll love it!
Tough Course, Decent Shape
I played here on a weekday in late March. It was fairly challenging for a high handicapper like myself. The first hall was very difficult, as a good tee shot can land you in a sand trap in the middle of the green.
Many of the holes required accurate shot placement as well. Overall it was a good course to play despite the challenges. There is a very small temporary Pro Shop, as renovations to a new facility are being worked on.. there are really no other amenities available unfortunately during this time. Despite all of this I would definitely return, as you get to use every club in the bag. Also, the rates are very reasonable.
It’s early and work is being gone at the course
With that said, expect parking issues, infrastructure issues and a course not in the best of shape. Greens are bumpy and haven’t been rolled, fairways need grooming. It’s early in the season so some of this is to be expected.... just recognize it’s there.
Showed up for my 8:30 tee time at 8:15. There was a line at the first tee, course was walking only, never notified until I showed up. I walked into the clubhouse, read “walking-only” and walked out. Immediately booked a tee time at Lederach (20 mins away), got out with no issue. Would not recommend this course. Staff is incredibly unfriendly, always feel like a bother to them when I go there.
Great track for its cost
Course was in good shape given the time
of year. only downside was only forward tee box was open and no real pro shop. for $50 value was great looking foward to playing again in the summer.
