Donald Ross Never Fails
If you are looking to play a course in eastern PA designed by the famed golf architect Donald Ross, then Jeffersonville is the perfect place for you. Many of the familiar design elements that you will find on other Ross courses, such as Pinehurst No. 2, Mid Pines, and Southern Pines in the Sandhills of North Carolina, are found in this gem. Sloped, pristine, and speedy greens reward accurately placed shots. Finding the wrong or short side of the green makes par a challenge. Adding to the beauty and challenge of the green complexes are strategically placed and well-maintained bunkering, some with steep faces. And as typical of any Ross design, elevation up to the green or down to the green plays a part in many of the holes. The challenges on and around the greens more than makeup for the short distances of this Par 70 course. One great benefit to the shorter distance is that Jeffersonville is definitely walker friendly.
The only average rating I give Jeffersonville is regarding the off-course amenities. Understand that none of these things take away from the golf experience for me. They are just my observations. The clubhouse is small, in an old building and leaves a lot to be desired, but we were told they have plans to build a new clubhouse soon. Signage could be better for first-timers attempting to find their way to the pro-shop. There was a large parking area prior to getting to the clubhouse that is a short walk to the clubhouse, but we were unaware of additional parking past the clubhouse. Also, it didn't seem that there were cart attendants to unload or load our bags upon arrival. That's possibly a result of the current difficulties in hiring. The putting green, which sits next to the first tee, did not have holes cut or target flags. Not a huge deal as you can leave a ball or place a tee as a target, but that might be surprising to you on your first visit. Also, there is no restaurant on the grounds. A halfway house (available before the first tee and after 10) provides a full menu of drinks, snacks, and hot foods, including hot dogs, hamburgers, and other pub-style fares.
I highly recommend anyone who is in the Philadelphia area to book a tee time at Jeffersonville! It was a great experience, and I can't wait to go back again.
Nothing Special, Just Ordinary
Start off with a putting green with no holes, or pegs, so that sets the tone for the course. The tee boxes were in good shape but every hole felt very similar. Up or downhill drive with a chip into a undulating green with tournament placed pin locations. Didn’t particularly lend itself to thoughtful, shot shaping play. For $50 a round on a Friday I would call it uneventful. The best part of a whole round was the andouille sausage at the turn. Also, the round was 5hrs with no thought for pace of play. We played as a twosome and had no luck with even attempting a 4hr round. For 6400 yards from the tips the groups should be moving quicker. Unimpressed and unlikely to return
Playing Oldie But Goodie
Use to play here 35 years ago. The layout changed a little but still really nice. Tee box, fairways and greens were all in great condition. Staff was super friendly. I will play here again my next visit.
Now in TX
I last played here 40 years ago. The layout has changed a bit but a really nice course. Fairways and greens in great condition. Whenever I get back to Philly I will definitely play here again.
Great course buck lack of practice facilities
Great course! Great layout! Great condition! Lack of practice facilities is my only complaint.
Should have rangers driving around to keep up pace of play … got stuck behind a foursome that sllloooowwww Down pace of play … stated to Deion the fun of going out … they were so slow … the group ahead of them finished and for 3 holes no one was in front of them … behind so could just see people sitting and waiting to tee offf and hit second shots
Good Value Course
This is a quality golf course especially for the price. Only issue I had the other day was I booked a tee time just for me. No one else booked that time so when I was about to tee off the ranger said I couldn’t go off just myself. I had to join another group that already played 2 holes and had to coordinate if I wanted to play the last 2 holes. I understand you dont want to have onesomes playing to maximize the number of players for the day but the course shouldn’t allow 1 player to book a tee time if it’s that much of a concern.
Great layout - conditions great despite HEAT
Jeffersonville is a gem. Amazing Donald Ross layout. The weather has been stifling hot, but the crew has kept the fairways and greens beautifully maintained. Greens are tough and challenging, but fair (except for #18) LOL
I play here when ever I can !
What a GEM!
If I live in the King of Prussia, PA area I would play discourse every chance I get and would not be sick of it. But since it is my first time playing the course compared to the other two that I played in Northern Virginia and in Pennsylvania the last three days this is by far the best course by a wide margin. If I come back to this area I will definitely played Jeffersonville golf district course AGAIN!
Nice course for the money
First time playing Jeffersonville on 7/5/22. Played with one friend. Hoped to play by ourselves but got paired up with another duo. No big deal. Course was nice and in good condition. All but one tee box was in great shape. Carts were old gas-powered variety but got the job done. Course was crowded but no issues with pace of play. Lots of retirees. Renovations being done on clubhouse so no food or drink was available. All in all a good experience, especially for the money. I was coming from Center City, Philly. Took about an hour with traffic.
