Kimberton Golf Club
About
Kimberton Golf Club, which opened in 1962, has stood the test of time. Well known golf course designer George Fazio created a nice mix of holes about 45 minutes northwest of Philadelphia. The golf course isn't overly long and doesn't feature a lot of trouble, but it's long on fun. The signature par-4 third, a dogleg right around woods, is a pretty hole and worth the trip. Kimberton Golf Club is a just good old-fashioned, Philadelphia-style golf course.

Fantastic Value
For under $20, Kimberton is a fantastic deal. The greens are surprisingly true although a bit slow. It's is a great course for the beginner golfer and a fun layout for the experienced player looking to put up a low number. Keep in mind the place isn't a country club: some of the tee boxes are uneven, a few bumps on some greens, not the shortest fairways. But, the course is well enough maintained to make for an enjoyable round and the staff is very courteous and even offered me a free yardage book. Props to Kimberton for improving the condition of the course and offering fair rates through golf now.
Nice little track but plan on being there your whole day
Course was in good condition, fairly easy track. Some water but wide open for the most part. I am an 8-10 handicap and did not lose a ball to any woods. Greens are in good shape and there are some fun holes on the back 9 ... Overall I would give the course an 8/10 in playability and upkeep.
However, this place suffers from some of the worst pace of play issues I have ever experienced. When we showed up for our tee time at 3:30pm on a Friday there were 3 foursomes waiting to tee off. We decided to tee off from 10 since we did not feel like waiting and the back seemed wide open. We got through the back 9 in about 2 hours and it was when we got back to 1 to play the front when I realized I probably would never play there again.
Again there was a backup of 2 foursome's. The first foursome was a father with his son and daughter, the second foursome was a father with his wife son and daughter. Now I will preface this by saying I am all for younger kids and novices learning the game, but this was painful to sit behind. Not only were we not asked if our two-some wanted to play through but we sat at each tee box for at least 20 minutes watching the newbie golfers hit wild shot after wild shot and continue to play each ball instead of picking up. We got through hole number 5 in about 1:15 before calling it quits and heading to the clubhouse to pack it up. We were looking at a 3-3.5 hour back nine which is unacceptable to me. If I was trying to play a quick nine after work it would not be possible here.
Overall, not a bad course but make sure you call ahead before booking a tee time.
They ranger who can control field
4ladys front us tooks forever to finish the holes.
They need rangers who can control those kind of situations.
Nice Day on the Links
Got an awesome deal through Golfnow to play yesterday. For $15, this course was well worth the drive out to play.
The course was in pretty good shape for late May. We teed off at 215 and played at a pretty quick pace. Did not wait on a single hole for the entire round. Was almost as if we had the whole course to ourselves. The course itself was in pretty good shape. Looks like the greens were just aerated within the last couple weeks but they weren't much of an issue. Fairways were average and the rough was playable. Looked like there was a men's league coming in around 6ish so we got out of there just in time.
Overall, a very pleasant day on the course. Great pace of play and decent course conditions considering the rock bottom price we played for, it was well worth the drive. We will return.
Played this course many times years ago
For this time of the year the course was in good shape. Greens had been plugged but putted OK. My wife and I had a nice round of golf.
Nice Day
A solid rain the day before, but conditions remained very nice. Pace of play was great, greens were well maintained as were most of the tee boxes. Weather couldn't have been better and finished up in about 3 hours and 45 min.
18 Holes of Fun!
A FUN course if you keep your ball in the fairways!
If you wander left or right you better have your scramble game on :)
Wake up management
Waited to pay for the round. Nobody at register. Some staff at bar but could care less. Play was so slow because nobody had the brains or incentive to pair people up. I saw some reviews about the great staff. I found just the opposite. Felt like a "click" course or maybe the look down on golf-now players. Finally water in the middle of back 9. Plenty of cups empty coolers. Other than that it was wonderful.
Good Condition
Greens rolled well. Course was in good condition. There were a couple of slow foursomes but once they let us play thru it was smooth sailing. It is a nice layout with some challenging holes. Good value for the money
Golf night for the very poor players
Tee time of 5:57pm Friday night. 1st tee backed up with 2 groups of 4 walking. Staff tells me it's not too crowded out there to just go to empty hole(front nine has atleast 2 groups each. So we go to hole 10 and a husband and wife come off 9 and he is moaning and groaning saying"we r going ahead of them we will be here until 7:30. So his witch wife comes up to us and ask if we got permission to go off 10. I said yes. She says you can't jump in front of people coming off 9. So we went back to 1. Long and slowest round. But I played great because I pretended the ball was the witch and her wimp husband all night. Will not be back.
Nice walkable course
Easy to walk , nice layout (no hard hat needed for a public course). Would go back m
Skip this one
Aerated greens that were rock hard. Chewed up tee boxes. Staff on the phone, too busy to help.
No one on the course, not hard to figure out why.
Not worth the money.
Course Regular Pricing
I feel the course regular pricing is over priced for the condition.
Their continued Golf Now participation could be quite helpful.
I will not pay their regular price to play there.
season exhibition opener
The greens were fast and smooth fairways and tees were in good shape.
Decent country course
Hadn't played this course in about 35 years, and I didn't notice any change.
Greens in excellent shape, very firm. Stay below the hole at all costs!
For a short course it has several lengthy holes (3 par 4s at 400+, 3 par 3s at 176-208.)
Great value at my $15.90.
Great course for the novice or experienced
This is a great course that will challenge you. It will cause you to think about shot placement and distance. Love the third hole!! The course can be difficult if you make it that way.
Pleasant casual atmosphere
The course is not an architectural masterpiece, but generally enjoyable. It has an unpretentious atmosphere which I enjoyed, looks like a fun place to have a casual round and lunch with friends. I live a pretty good distance from the course (about 50 minutes) and it doesn't rank high enough for me to make it a regular stop. I got a very good deal on GolfNow and the course is close to my brother's home so that's what sealed it for me this time. I would recommend Kimberton for someone who is "local", say within 20-30 minutes of the course.
By the way, I've seen other reviews for the course which commented that the greens weren't receptive enough for high approaches intended to stop quickly. I thought the greens were in very good condition and they are generally open enough to allow approaches to bounce/ run on. Personally I enjoy that kind of play.
I will go again
still a novice, so most courses are challenging for me.
for the most part, the course was open, so it was easy to track balls that went astray.
a bit gnat heavy for some reason.
the greens were fast.
i liked it and will go back.
only one water station on the course, but there were vending machines out there.
Great course.
This was a great course to play. I played with my boyfriend and really enjoyed playing. Beautiful course, well maintained, and friendly staff. I will definitely go back.
