Enjoyed very much course has some real challenges and real nice layout in great shape for this time of year
Royal Oaks
Playing in January in PA is a stolen day. We had a good time. Course conditions were what you would expect in the Wintet.
Great
More ball washers with soap & water, please. Tee boxes need work, Fairways & greens great. Nice practice area.
Could be a nice course
This place could be awesome, for the past 10+ years the greens have been terrible. And the whole place is coming down around it, it’s a shame this could be an awesome facility!
Nice!
Course has some grass trouble over July and August but has recovered nicely. Greens were really nice. Course is in great shape. Staff was very friendly. Pace of play was 3.5 hours for a foursome. Great time!
Poor condition
I took my son here for the very first time. We were both very disappointed with the conditions of the greens and fairways. I remember this course being one of the better courses to play in the area. Unfortunately, we will not be back anytime soon even though we received a certificate to play it again with cart fee.
Rough Shape
Once a very nice course, it was in extremely poor shape from fairway to greens. Had a good price through Golfnow but certainly can not recommend this course in its current condition.
Poor course condition
Very serious damage in fareways and greens, one of the poorest conditions I have played in in recent memory, sadly.
Not sure it can get much worse
Have played this course once a year forever used to be a gem. Has gotten progressively worse over the last 3 or 4 years. Have had a couple rainy years but play numerous courses in the county and nothing has deteriorated to this level. Don’t waste your money. Will take years to make playable again.
Course Damaged
Although the layout is fine, the condition is very poor: greens, tee boxes, and fairways all need help. All thre show signs of significant damage.
Greens were at the back end of the aeration process. Slow, sandy, extremely shaggy and wet. The greens looked like they were not cut for a couple of days and they were actively watering them while we were on the course. One of the most important parts of the game was impossible due to the conditions. The frustration is that there were zero signs posted when we checked in and we were not informed by the pro shop attendant or the starter.
Terrible Condition
I had golfed at this course a few times before. The last time was about 2 years ago. Whoever is in charge of ground keeping has let this course go down the tube. Tee boxes that look like a nice courses rough, patches of dirt and sand on the greens. 6'x6' patches of dirt/mud/crab grass on the fairways. They have a nice facility and solid layout, but the conditions are just awful.
Poor greens
Course was in ruff shape. A ton of ball marks on the greens. Some of the greens were dead. Mother Nature hasn’t been nice to them. Its a solid lay out.
So sad to see the course in this poor condition, and it appears there is nothing being done to correct the condition. Royal Oaks was once the nicest public course in the greater Harrisburg area. I only paid 15.00 to play but if I would have paid the rack rate of +/- 35.00 I would have been furious. Looks like this place will not be around much longer.
Not worth it this year...
I could blame the rain and wet conditions that caused the course to be a mess, but as an organization your expertise is in golf course maintenance. Couple that with Lebanon CC not being anywhere near as in rough a shape, this was certainly a HUGE disappointment.
I took two foursomes down there and frankly was embarrassed that I picked this course to play this week.
Greens are burnt, most fairways are a mess, the tee boxes are like hitting out of the rough and no where near as groomed as they should be. At $45 a person you expert more for the price of admission.
Royal has been a great course in years past. Sadly, those years are long gone! I won’t be back this year again after this weekends round. I was that disappointed.
Nees work
Must have had some heavy rains. No ball washers. Greens & tea boxes need work. Love the layout but work required.
