Great course.

Royal Oaks continues to be one of the best courses in the area. The layout is interesting, with none of the "repeating holes" that plague most of our area's courses. It's in great shape, the price is fair, and we played in well under 4 hours.

Run of the mill track!

There's nothing fancy here. But its an ok track to play if your home course has a tournament going on.
I won't go back unless the price is under $30.
The staff could be friendlier and the greens could have been mowed closer. They definitely weren't rolled recently.

nice course except for Traps and Tee boxes

They need sand in the bunkers. The traps are filled with rocks! Also they have 5 different sets of tees and it can get confusing which is which and what the actual yardage is from the tee your playing. Other than that it's a really nice course and facility. One of the best practice areas around.

Royal Oaks

Course was in good shape for early May. Greens were very nice and putted well. The only negative would be the traps, many were filled with rocks and all of them were like concrete.

Challenging but Fair

The fairways and greens were in great shape considering the weather we have had this spring. The 6500 yard tee markings are challenging but the course is fair if you keep the ball in play.

Solid Value

Friendly staff started things off right. Well conditioned for late in the season; some greens had some damage from animals. Nice layout with a few holes that will challange better golfers, but most were fair and playable for all.

Slow play and actual tee time was 35 minutes later than my reservation.

Good golf course. Greens were very good. Fairways and tees OK. Range is good.

Pace of play was extremely slow. Arrived at course at noon. Tee time was at 12:45 pm. Actually teed off at 1:20 pm. This is simply not acceptable.

Never came close to finishing the round before nightfall. Only completed 13 holes - a pace of play
approaching 5 hours!!

Poor condition mars former great.

This track is living on its rep from more than 10 years ago. No starter, no marshals, poorly kept greens, pot-holed cart paths crumbling into rutted dirt channels, almost non-existent directional signs, and a web version of the scorecard that should still be printed, because it actually had some yardages to hazards from the tee boxes, and, speaking of tee boxes, an arcane set of markers from the tips to the forward tees, which consisted of gold, silver, bronze, white and finally, black (at the forward tees!). All in all, the $20 fee was the best part of the day. I will probably not return until I have heard that many improvements have been made to what used to be one of my favorite local tracks.

Nice challenging local course

Royal oaks is a nice local challenging golf course. This course offers some holes that will make use of a few different clubs in your bag. Also there are holes there that make you think before bombing away !

Also to note most of the course is layed out in a fashion you don't see / play side by side with another home giving each hole a somewhat secluded feeling.

Overall a nice reasonable course! Be sure to check GolfNow app to get some good deals as well !

disappointed

Royal has been a gem in the past, but the condition of the course was terrible. The staff was kind of rude to the group ahead of us, and it seems this had something to do with the time being booked through golfnow. In my opinion, the only redeeming factor was that the cost was so low!

Very Strict About Golf Now Tee Times

Got off to a bad start at Royal Oaks with the staff there. We had a 1:07 tee time and traveled nearly an hour to get there after running other errands. Errands went quicker than expected and we arrived at course around 11:30. Staff was very strict about tee times made via Golf Now. Since we paid $22 per person, they wouldn't let us tee off early, even though there were numerous openings - because those other tee times were going for $26 pp. We left and ate lunch elsewhere, came back for our scheduled tee time. That put us behind 2 groups of elderly gentlemen who managed to play in 4:45 minutes, but it felt like forever. There was no one in front of these 2 groups and there were no rangers to help with pace of play. We also had course regulars who hit into us until I fussed at them. All in all, course was reasonable challenge, some quirky holes, but buyer be ware that low rates also means you have no idea of what to expect for friendliness or pace of play.

Every hole is different and very fair.

Challenging, scenic, course in great shape. Inexpensive course where good shots are rewarded. We'll worth the trip! It should be a must play in Pennsylvania.

Pace of play issues today

Normally an awesome place to place. For some reason today the future Tiger Woods and his 11 friends were in front of me. 3 hours and 45 minutes for 9 holes. I was done after that.
