a good suprise
I hadn't played royal oaks for three or four years. last time it was rough and full priced. I heard the condition was good so I went down to play. The fairways were good, the greens were also in good condition and comfortably paced. The rough was up but not like being in jail.. It was high enough you wanted to avoid it, but you could play out of it. the sand was in good condition and also playable. go play it and have a good round!
Great Course
The staff was okay. Overall experience was better than average.. I will definetly be returning to this course and maybe I won't make a mistake of going on a day there is a scheduled tournement and or charity event. When it comes to the layouts of the greens and fairways, the fairways were in good condition, but I did notice a majority of the greens having quite a few ball marks and divots that needed to be fixed. But that just comes with the territory I suppose other players not fixing there ball marks . Just makes you have to play a little harder to complete the two putt. Good job Royal Oaks
Water challenge .
Very good course some narrow holes with water hazarads.
A very interesting course
We played the day after a storm so the course was not to its normal condition. Cart path only at places and standing water. This is not the course fault and most likely in a few days these conditions would be taken care of.
Nice Course
Pretty nice course. A little nicer than your average course. It's a little bit of a splurge, but worth it. The lay out is great. Course wasn't in the best condition I have ever seen it, but still above average.
A so-so experience ...
Although I believe that this course was priced well for the experience($24).I really wished that there was sand in the traps. Instead of rocky-dirt. And better signage when making your way from one hole to the next.
And I realize it's not a deal breaker for most people. But for the exception of the girls at the snack bar, the staff could really use a few lessons in customer service.
Good layout and challenge.
Overall the course was in good shape, a few area's where the fairways are poor but I think they have always dealt with those issues.
The rough is rough
Fairways are well kept but the rough is too unkept. It's very easy to lose a ball in the rough 3 ft off the fairway. It should be cut a little shorter & more often. The greens also have some pretty bad patchiness going on in some areas. It's an overall visually stimulating course with some challenging holes but it just needs a little bit of housekeeping.
Nice, enjoyable, unique...
Nice course, enjoyable day, unique challenges. Inconsistent green speeds well kept grounds
Off the beaten path but well worth the drive
My 4-some really enjoyed our round -- as we knew we would because we've been making the pilgrimage to Royal Oaks at least once of year. This course is tucked away and can be tough to find -- a good gps is recommended. The course itself was in very good condition with consistent moderately fast greens. We got a GREAT deal on golfnow.com. Royal Oaks has some very nice holes and I think #14 reminds me of #18 at Pebble Beach (minus the Pacific Ocean). This track is perfect for the 10+ handicappers and it has 5 sets of tees to choice from. Even at regular rates, you will most certainly find Royal Oaks to be of tremendous value.
very nice course
the layout and conditions were nice, nice large greens very playable course. the only complaint i have is some of the bunkers had rocks in the sand. other than that great experience! would definately play again!
Slowest day ever
Price is right, course was nice, but we quit after 7 holes. Because it had taken 2 1/2 hours to reach that point, and there were 3 groups stacked up on the 8th tee. If you have 6+ hours to play, go ahead.
Very nice course with excellent staff.
This course is always very well maintained and plays like others which cost much more. The course is tricky at times because of the high number of fairway bunkers. There are 5-6 holes where small stream water hazards can come into play as well. Always a great value.
Good course
I've played the course in better shape then it was in, but it was still in better shape then most courses. The sand was only ok and the greens were smooth but unfortunately not very fast. The tees weren't in very good shape however with numerous divots on them. Pace of play was very slow but I played in the afternoon so that is expected. Overall I really enjoy playing this course.
Awsome staff and service
We had a 5:45 am tee off , and as luck would have it the pro shop staff was 15-20 min late , no biggie for my group , but the manager met us on hole # 2 and gave us a free round of golf and lunch on them , excellent service , and apology was good enough for us
Enjoy the scenery!
Although I've played Royal Oaks several times I always seem to notice something new and different about the layout. The average golfer will find this track very challenging while the above average players will enjoy the opportunities to score. It is definitely all about the tee shot as the rough can be unforgiving. The greens rolled out well but were a bit inconsistent All in all an above average golf experience.
nice course
Nice course, worth the time and money, had a good time
Several tee box choices
Good course for all abilities. Course length can be anywhere from 5K to 6.5K yards depending on tee box choice. Many bunkers and water hazards to keep your game sharp.
A Day at the Oaks
Fairways were in pretty good shape. The greens and tee boxes were no in great shape. The greens were not smooth but putted okay. If the greens wee in as good shape as the fairways, the course would have been great. Some of the layup holes make it a little quirky.
Great Course
Great 18. Would like to drive a little more but 7 iron is key on this course.
