Nice, enjoyable, unique...
Nice course, enjoyable day, unique challenges. Inconsistent green speeds well kept grounds
Off the beaten path but well worth the drive
My 4-some really enjoyed our round -- as we knew we would because we've been making the pilgrimage to Royal Oaks at least once of year. This course is tucked away and can be tough to find -- a good gps is recommended. The course itself was in very good condition with consistent moderately fast greens. We got a GREAT deal on golfnow.com. Royal Oaks has some very nice holes and I think #14 reminds me of #18 at Pebble Beach (minus the Pacific Ocean). This track is perfect for the 10+ handicappers and it has 5 sets of tees to choice from. Even at regular rates, you will most certainly find Royal Oaks to be of tremendous value.
very nice course
the layout and conditions were nice, nice large greens very playable course. the only complaint i have is some of the bunkers had rocks in the sand. other than that great experience! would definately play again!
Slowest day ever
Price is right, course was nice, but we quit after 7 holes. Because it had taken 2 1/2 hours to reach that point, and there were 3 groups stacked up on the 8th tee. If you have 6+ hours to play, go ahead.
Very nice course with excellent staff.
This course is always very well maintained and plays like others which cost much more. The course is tricky at times because of the high number of fairway bunkers. There are 5-6 holes where small stream water hazards can come into play as well. Always a great value.
Good course
I've played the course in better shape then it was in, but it was still in better shape then most courses. The sand was only ok and the greens were smooth but unfortunately not very fast. The tees weren't in very good shape however with numerous divots on them. Pace of play was very slow but I played in the afternoon so that is expected. Overall I really enjoy playing this course.
Awsome staff and service
We had a 5:45 am tee off , and as luck would have it the pro shop staff was 15-20 min late , no biggie for my group , but the manager met us on hole # 2 and gave us a free round of golf and lunch on them , excellent service , and apology was good enough for us
Enjoy the scenery!
Although I've played Royal Oaks several times I always seem to notice something new and different about the layout. The average golfer will find this track very challenging while the above average players will enjoy the opportunities to score. It is definitely all about the tee shot as the rough can be unforgiving. The greens rolled out well but were a bit inconsistent All in all an above average golf experience.
nice course
Nice course, worth the time and money, had a good time
Several tee box choices
Good course for all abilities. Course length can be anywhere from 5K to 6.5K yards depending on tee box choice. Many bunkers and water hazards to keep your game sharp.
A Day at the Oaks
Fairways were in pretty good shape. The greens and tee boxes were no in great shape. The greens were not smooth but putted okay. If the greens wee in as good shape as the fairways, the course would have been great. Some of the layup holes make it a little quirky.
Great Course
Great 18. Would like to drive a little more but 7 iron is key on this course.
This course has gotten better
I've heard many locals talk about how poor the course conditions have become, only to find that they haven't played the course in 3+ years. Trust me that the course conditions have gotten better. It certainly is worth the $20-$25 it can be had for quite frequently on Golf Now. Every hole is different at this course, and it's not overly intimidating to any level of player. Definitely worth playing, especially at a steep discount on GN.
nice place good price
outstanding course magnificent landscaping easy and challenging holes....a must stop if you like to play good affordable courses
Good layout
Always liked the track, but I must say I was disappointed with the conditions of the course. Very few ball washers at tees; no permanent tee markers, just small plastic signs stuck in the ground; many traps had no rakes in sight; stones in traps; greens spotty and inconsistent speed. May check later in the year but as of now probbly will not be going back.
nice course
played on a Saturday afternoon and course was not overbooked. have played here before and the course looks in great shape. bunkers and greens were well maintained. would highly recommend this course.
Sub Par Conditions
Lack of understanding for course management. They do not care about the greens nor do they care about the fairways. Bottom line not the course it use to be.
Good but lacking
This course is worth about $25 if you play it, I certainly wouldn't pay $35 or $40. I was shocked that the tee boxes weren't setup with a placard that told you what hole you were on and what the distance was. There is no marshal driving around as well as no beverage cart. So it's kind of a no frills golf course in the country side. I hit one shot into a bunker, the bunker was made of course sand and rocks.
This is NOT a challenging course! The greens are all flat.
Good price but average maintenance
Royal Oaks is a very nice course, but not maintained as well as a few years ago. Rough was extremely high and tee boxes were poor on occasion. Good value from GolfNow, but would not pay over $30.00 to play.n
Players comment
Course was in nice shape considering the weather this week. Guys I played with said it was much better than the place they played yesterday. I enjoyed it.
