course
It's a nice course to play, with a few challenging holes including lots of twists and turns.
Great Value
Course was in very nice condition. Greens were rolling very nicely, yet were receptive to incoming shots. Fairways and tee boxes all in good condition at time of play. Pace was great for a weekend. Cart girl was friendly, prices are very good. The course must have recently laid out fresh sand, because the bunkers were very fluffy. Overall I highly recommend for a fun round near the Philly area.
well maintained course for the money
I actually play this course often, since I live very close to it. Course is always well maintained, friendly staff. On weekend, it could get ugly with 5 hour round....but usually on a weekday, I finish with less than 4 hours. Price of the course is very reasonable and it's highly recommended.
Rain soaked fun round
Played as a single front 9, paired with Bridget and Rory on 11. They were nice to ask me to join them as play had slowed slightly. Rain came on 13 and and really came down on 17. Soaked, but happy to finish a fun round in 2.5 hrs on a good golf course. I agree with a previous reviewer that some of the yardage is incorrect. Will play here again.
Good Value!
Second time on this course. Nice condition and layout for a local community course. The first time I played the Middle Tees which were a bit too long so decided to play the Senior tees. Over correction! These show on the card as 5000 yes, Par70. But... There were a few "vanity yardages" where my GPS showed them to be much shorter to the extent that I was playing 200 yd par 4s. Probably played closer to 4700. On the whole it is a nice course that gives great value for the money. I'll go back, but not sure which tees to play :(
Great course for the price
I've played this course a lot since it's right down the road from my house. Great course for beginners-intermediate players, and fun for even the experienced golfer. Most of the holes are pretty straight, but there are a few tricky holes. Staff is super friendly, and the bar and grille offers a cool atmosphere after a round of golf with good food. Always a fun time playing Mainland!
Decent public course
Fairways were in good shape, tee boxes were a little shaggy. Greens were very soft and slow. Good value at $37 through golfnow.
Really great value
We really enjoyed playing this course. The greens were in great condition and play was very quick.
Only complaint was that the ground crew was all over the place. They seemed to be at at every hole and they weren't very respectful of the golfers when teeing off or putting. We even had one guy park his vehicle 20 yards in front of the tee box on the 16th hole. When we asked him to move it he got very annoyed.
Other than that it was really nice.
Friendly professional staff in pro shop/course
Will return , we started on time, course was in excellent condition and pace of play was appropriate. Friendly atmosphere and good food at the grill after golf.
Well kept and challenging.
Mainland is a tight course that is difficult for those who do not frequently play there. The tee boxes, greens, and bunkers were in excellent shape. Overall I really enjoyed playing here and look forward to going back.
Nice Short Course
First time playing Mainland. It was a great round. The pace was pretty average. The course is short but has some challenging holes nonetheless. Many of your tee shots are blind shots over rolling hills. A couple very driveable par 4's make you really grip up and rip some tee shots. The greens & fairways were in great shape. The course will also hold a bit of sentimental value for me considering I had my best round ever here. For a weekday afternoon, the hot deal price was well worth it. We will be back here again soon.
Quirky
Played here for the first time....although course conditions were excellent, the layout is a drawback. Holes are to close together. Greens are slick and very undulating. I enjoy reading a downhill breaking putt, but even if you just tapped the ball to get it rolling, if it didn't go in, you're running it 4 feet past the hole. Had lunch afterwards at their Grille....food was outstanding.
Perfect weather...for everyone deciding to play
Great weather and conditions. Because of this, the course was packed. We weren't in any rush, but par 3s were backed up by 3 groups. The cart girl said it was the most people she's ever seen on the course.
Other than that, the course was in great condition. Tee boxes and fairways weren't too torn up, greens were softish and ran true
This course enjoyable to play
The course is challenging at times and well kept. Problems at times after rain with drainage. Always enjoy playing here with friends. Friendly staff on the course and at the food stand. Would recommend to others!
Blind holes
The course has many blind T=shots so you have to play it a few times to know your way around or you will find yourself in trouble. The greens are in good shape but run slow. Slower than they look. The general condition and manicuring of the fairways and rough etc. was not good at all. Difficulity is somewhat easy to medium and the average golfer can play either blues or whites.
A Nice, Short & Easy Course
I played Mainland before the snow in December and then after the melt in March, both times not in ideal conditions. But the course was in good shape all things considered. It's a short track where after a decent drive I was 75 to 100 yards from the hole on most of the par 4s. It does require accuracy with trees lining many holes. I'll be back this season.
Mainland
The course was in overall good condition. The greens were very fast and hole placement was hard on this day. The Halfway House was closed an there was no cart service for any food. They did have a $2.00 coke machine though; which was thoughtful of them. I most likely won't play this course unless there is a deal. Can't see spending between $42-54 to play when other courses in the area are a better price and condition. Thank golfnow.com Mainland for my greens fees. Otherwise I would have been at home watching the Phillies.
Close to home
I think Mainland is the nicest public course in the Lansdale to Quakertown area. A bit of a shooting gallery but well maintained. Nice grass, nice cart paths, good carts. Course is challenging . Thanks to Golf Now, rate was very reasonable.
A Decent Value for the Money
Less than a mile from the Northeast Extension's Lansdale exit, Mainland is a pretty good value for the money. It's usually in good shape and has some variety to its holes. Some of the greens have very steep slopes; water comes into play on 5, 9, 12, 17 and 18; there are forced tee shot carries on 12, 15 and 17; out of bounds can be worrisome on 3, 8, 11 and 15; and trees may have to be dealt with on 4, 5, 7, 8 (from the blues), 10, 12, 14 and 18. Having said all that, the course is still fun, fairly forgiving and not too difficult. The snack bar food could offer more sandwich and food varieties, but the beer choices are pretty good. The Mainland Grille is pretty comfortable. Generally the course is a good value and doesn't fall into the "overpriced" category.
Good value for solid course
i went first weekend in april so weather was not ideal, very windy and couse was wet from rain the prior day. the course was in good shape all things considered. Layout has some driveable par 4s for long hitters which i enjoyed challenging myself with. overall a nice course for a good price
