Nice Short Course
First time playing Mainland. It was a great round. The pace was pretty average. The course is short but has some challenging holes nonetheless. Many of your tee shots are blind shots over rolling hills. A couple very driveable par 4's make you really grip up and rip some tee shots. The greens & fairways were in great shape. The course will also hold a bit of sentimental value for me considering I had my best round ever here. For a weekday afternoon, the hot deal price was well worth it. We will be back here again soon.
Quirky
Played here for the first time....although course conditions were excellent, the layout is a drawback. Holes are to close together. Greens are slick and very undulating. I enjoy reading a downhill breaking putt, but even if you just tapped the ball to get it rolling, if it didn't go in, you're running it 4 feet past the hole. Had lunch afterwards at their Grille....food was outstanding.
Perfect weather...for everyone deciding to play
Great weather and conditions. Because of this, the course was packed. We weren't in any rush, but par 3s were backed up by 3 groups. The cart girl said it was the most people she's ever seen on the course.
Other than that, the course was in great condition. Tee boxes and fairways weren't too torn up, greens were softish and ran true
This course enjoyable to play
The course is challenging at times and well kept. Problems at times after rain with drainage. Always enjoy playing here with friends. Friendly staff on the course and at the food stand. Would recommend to others!
Blind holes
The course has many blind T=shots so you have to play it a few times to know your way around or you will find yourself in trouble. The greens are in good shape but run slow. Slower than they look. The general condition and manicuring of the fairways and rough etc. was not good at all. Difficulity is somewhat easy to medium and the average golfer can play either blues or whites.
A Nice, Short & Easy Course
I played Mainland before the snow in December and then after the melt in March, both times not in ideal conditions. But the course was in good shape all things considered. It's a short track where after a decent drive I was 75 to 100 yards from the hole on most of the par 4s. It does require accuracy with trees lining many holes. I'll be back this season.
Mainland
The course was in overall good condition. The greens were very fast and hole placement was hard on this day. The Halfway House was closed an there was no cart service for any food. They did have a $2.00 coke machine though; which was thoughtful of them. I most likely won't play this course unless there is a deal. Can't see spending between $42-54 to play when other courses in the area are a better price and condition. Thank golfnow.com Mainland for my greens fees. Otherwise I would have been at home watching the Phillies.
Close to home
I think Mainland is the nicest public course in the Lansdale to Quakertown area. A bit of a shooting gallery but well maintained. Nice grass, nice cart paths, good carts. Course is challenging . Thanks to Golf Now, rate was very reasonable.
A Decent Value for the Money
Less than a mile from the Northeast Extension's Lansdale exit, Mainland is a pretty good value for the money. It's usually in good shape and has some variety to its holes. Some of the greens have very steep slopes; water comes into play on 5, 9, 12, 17 and 18; there are forced tee shot carries on 12, 15 and 17; out of bounds can be worrisome on 3, 8, 11 and 15; and trees may have to be dealt with on 4, 5, 7, 8 (from the blues), 10, 12, 14 and 18. Having said all that, the course is still fun, fairly forgiving and not too difficult. The snack bar food could offer more sandwich and food varieties, but the beer choices are pretty good. The Mainland Grille is pretty comfortable. Generally the course is a good value and doesn't fall into the "overpriced" category.
Good value for solid course
i went first weekend in april so weather was not ideal, very windy and couse was wet from rain the prior day. the course was in good shape all things considered. Layout has some driveable par 4s for long hitters which i enjoyed challenging myself with. overall a nice course for a good price
nice course
beautifully maintained and wonderful starter who returned a forgotten club!
Good fun course for the higher handicapper
Nice course layout, only gripe was the rough, being in need of a cut, as difficult in finding balls, due to lack of ability!
Very hilly course, but well maintained and a great place to play.
I drove into the parking lot and saw no cars there for a 10:30 tee time and I started to become afraid of what was to come, but it was a great time. Very quiet and relaxing course. All you could hear is birds chirping and people playing golf. The hills gave some challenge to the course and made for a fun afternoon chasing balls around.
Nice Course, Good Value
Played Mainland about a month ago and then again last week and found it to be a nice course with an interesting setup tucked into a nice area on the fringe of suburbia. The course is fairly well maintained though the bunkers and rough surrounding the greens could use some attention. Overall its a very nice course and a good value for your money.
Plesently surprised
The course was in great shape. Yes it had its trouble areas(not many though), but the greens fairways and tees were all great. I will definitely come back.
Course in good shape other than bunkers.
Enjoy playing this course since it is so close to my home and got great deal on golf now.
Great condition and pace of play was super.
The course was in great shape, and there was a discount on the lunch after the round for playing the course. A great value for a nice course.
good value for amount paid
Course not busy due to heat wave, greens still in good shape. Bunkers need some help, don't need driver on most holes. A few blind shots but decent variety, par 3's are pretty good. Staff was nice to get me out early and ranger drove around with ice water.
Course has challenges but many of the holes are basic
Nice course for the below average to average player.
Very Fun Course
This is a very fun course. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The rough is challenging but fair.
