Nice round on a great day
The weather was perfect and the course was in it's usual nice shape. Some fairways were a bit thin in places but overall, Mainland always does a nice job.
Average Course With Good Amenities
Course Conditions: Average course with average conditions. Some holes were much nicer than others, some holes were too 'gimmicky' utilizing blind approach shots to feign difficulty. Mainland is also a short course so while driver isn't necessary you'll probably find yourself hitting it anyway since there's usually no real danger left/right. Fairways and greens were both in nice shape.
Pace: I teed off in the early-afternoon of a Saturday in May so pace of play was just what I expected: 4.5 to 5 hours.
Other Thoughts: Good value if you can get the right deal. Amenities were unexpectedly good with a great snack bar at the turn that you can also stop at a few holes later.
Very enjoyable
My golf partner and I are trying as many public courses in the Philadelphia area as possible so Mainland was next on the list.
From arrival to leaving the experience was definitely a good one. Frank in the proshop was a tremendous help and provided some very good tips to first time players such as us on the course.
As shooting an average of 90 golfers my partner and i were both looking forward to this course as the reviews showed it was challenging but forgiving in some areas.
The fairways were in good condition, greens were in great shape and the pace of play was good enough.
Thoroughly enjoyable round and will be going back.
Thanks again to Frank in the pro shop.
Cheers
Nice course
The first time I played Mainland this season the tee boxes were being aerated and little attention was paid to the placement of temporary tees. Glad to say all the hard work paid off. The course is in good condition and greens are rolling true. Stull some bare spots in the fairway, but at less than $40 during the week it is still a good value. Tee'd off at 6:15 and got the round done right at 8:00.
Easy to enjoy if your hitting from the fairways
Greens are in great shape and very forgiving on the approach shots. Fairways are in great shape as well. Rough is not where you want to play from. Whether in the tall grass or fescue, the rough on this course can kill your game. Enjoyed the longer tee shots (white markers were in the back on most holes) even though it made the drives more challenging. Play was a little slow.
Needs some work
This course has potential but the fairways and rough are unkempt. The tee boxes need sand/seed to replace divots. In my opinion, you can't charge $50 for a course that's in worse condition than most county courses.
Thanks for your constructive comments concerning course conditions at Mainland GC. Unfortunately, like many PA courses, Mainland suffered moderate to severe damage to fairways, and some tees, due to winterkill, primarily dessication and crown hydration issues. We have since re-seeded and fertilized all fairways and tees, with extremely successful results. The rough, which typically grows like mad in early spring, has been fully under control for weeks. And issues with divot repair have been addressed. We are sure that a return trip would leave you far more satisfied. Thanks again. Jim O'Brien (MGC Superintendent).
Some fairways had turf issues coming out of this winter, as did many other area courses. I think you will find that has now been taken care of, and all of our tee boxes do have divot mix to replace divots.
Greens bumpy - Fairways very dry
I have played this course many times before. It is usually in much better condition. Today the fairways were bare in many spots and hard as concrete. The greens were extremely bumpy. Hopefully it will get better with some improved maintenance. Willing to give it a second chance later this summer.
Thanks for commenting. Like many area courses, winter damage significantly hurt our fairway and tee surfaces. However, all of Mainland's fairways and tees have been re-seeded and fertilized this Spring, with excellent results. We are confident that your next round at Mainland will result in a much greater level of satisfaction. Again, thanks for the constructive criticism. And, we look forward to seeing you in the future.

every hole is different but good
course chalenging for highhandecapper. too much distance between gold & white tees
Early in Season
Had 7:24 Tee time. Unfortunately had to wait due to frost! Pace of play was rough because of the frost. Greens recently aerated along with fairways. When it all greens up course will be nice! Was an enjoyable round
This course was fun for an afternoon
This course is good value for the money, and has some fun holes. However, there are a few blind tee shots, leading you to play shots where you may not want to be off the tee. Overall, the course was nice, and the course is well maintained
Be careful when booking this place
Overall this course was placed on a piece of land that is too small. There are several holes that are right on top of each other. I knew that going in so it was not a problem. What I didn't know going in was the course conditions. The fairways were in bad shape and the greens were just aerated. You would think they would tell you that when you call and make a tee time. Not only did they not mention it but they charged full price. It seems like their focus is food and beverage. Be leery of a course that advertises the snack bar at the turn but doesn't put their scorecard on the website. There are better value choices in the area. I won't be back.
Great Course for the Price
I'm fairly new to the game, but good, I started playing courses this summer. I try to play a course a week, so I do have comparisons in mind to compare this to. For the price it's a great course! The staff is friendly and the pace of play was just fine. The snack stand is only accessible from the 9th hole, I prefer when it's access able from a few, but one is better then none. The driving range is pretty neat, you hit out into water. It's not the toughest or easiest course I played. It was in good condition both times I played in October. Afterwards there is a restaurant around the corner on Sumneytown Pike called The Mill, it has great sandwiches and brick oven pizzas, it's a great place to eat after a good day golfing.
All in all I golfed here for the first time this week and I've already played it again. I'd definitely recommend it to a friend.
NICE COURSE FOR AVERAGE GOLFERS
THE ROUGH IS THICK AND THE GREENS ARE A LITTLE SLOW, BUT THE PINS ARE ALWAYS PLACED TO CHALLENGE!!
HIT IT IN THE FAIRWAY, AND WATCH OUT FOR THE CROSS WINDS AND YOU SHOULD HAVE A NICE ROUND.
Good value
mostly open course good for beginning players, but does have some challenging holes.
Course is fair
This course is in good condition however the pace of play was very slow. The only reason I hung in there was because I was playing the round of my life. Fairways were good and the greens were great. The holes are right in top if each other and found myself ducking for cover on about 6 occasions. Overall I think this is a good value for the money.
Nice course, great value
My favorite course. On the short side, but nice variety in the layout - elevation, slope, some narrow fairways, some wide open, straight holes, doglegs, long holes, short ones. All seems to fit together in an interesting way. Greens run true. In particularly good shape this summer. Kind of course where an average golfer can feel both competent and challenged. Nice staff, good hamburgers at the restaurant.
Great Value / Nice Course
Challenging, yet still fun for an average player. Great condition, and quick pace of play. Look forward to playing it again.
Fun Course; Would Recommend
There are some fun short par 4s and other interesting holes on the course. Fairly easy to shoot a good score with consistent and slow greens. We paired up with some locals who were a lot of fun to play along side.
change of pace
course is short by the numbers, only if you stay in the fairway. many blind shots and narrow fairways with the rough that will add numbers to your score. greens are nice size and good condition, but don't putt from above the hole, it gets slippery, below you have a chance.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Thanks for playing...the use of the Driver not needed on several holes, after playing once or twice you know what holes to keep it in the bag.
