Same Old, Same Old
It's been a little since i have played Mainland in season and once again I was disappointed. The fairways were nice but hard as usual, and the greens were in good shape. After 3 years though, it appears that the just do not have sand in their maintenance budget. Filled with rocks, mud, and everything but sand it made for a frustrating day. Pace of play was also an issue and the ranger stopped by our group to ask which group in front of us was the problem. Considering there were only 4 groups in front us, not sure if we were suppose to be the ones to inform the course of the slow players. With this course being so close to my home, I will still hope for better.
Decent course. Horrible bunkers/hard ground
Bunkers were filled with rocks galore and very hard. If you play this course, do not hit out of them, you will scratch up your clubs. Ground was also hard if you miss the fairway. I chunked a shot 5 yards and barely hit it but somehow it managed to roll into the woods and be gone. Fairway and greens were in good shape though.
Fathers Day round
First timer here. I thought the course was in good shape. Greens were nice. Tee boxes were nice. Bunkers, however, were pretty awful. Hard “sand” and rocky with some puddling. We actually took the ball out (no closer to the hole) for fear out of getting hurt or breaking a club. Course is not long at all, which seemed forgiving for the higher handicapper. Entirely too many geese here, which I know is not the courses fault. I give Mainland 3.8 stars outta 5.
Great conditions and Greens!
Course was excellent but was disappointed we could not get a quick snack or drink during the round as the stand before the back 9 was closed. Surprised to see for memorial day weekend with a crowded course.
Other than that the course was in excellent shape. Conditions were excellent from the tee box to the greens. Only down side was the majority of the holes are very similar. The last 2 holes are a treat though.
Last 4 holes were very slow due to back to back par 3’s.
Some t’s were very close to greens creating a danger of being hit by balls.
Mainland Review
Course was in good shape and is spread out nicely. Fairways were good and greens were rolling fast. Staff was friendly and the starter was super nice and answered any questions we had before we teed off. Only bad thing was the pace of play, was almost a 5 hour round, it was on a Saturday which is understandable but the tee times need to be more spaced out or don’t overbook the course. Overall good course and would come back.
No notice Aeration
Very disappointed that they don’t notify you on golf now nor on their website that they have recently aerated the greens, I wouldn’t have played here at full price if I had known and it feels deceptive not to at least give people a heads up
