Hole #2 or #3, not sure! Photo submitted by tgmassey on 10/15/2012
great adventure on the golf course
Don't let the 5900yds deceive you! This course is not easy BUT a LOT of fun even in the cool wet weather that I played. The layout was so unusual I couldn't leave despite weather conditions I don't usually play in. Greens were great. Each hole was different and isolated form others. Good test of your skills. Multiple tee areas. Use their handy Guide Sheet on how to play each hole. Will definitely return again in nicer weather. Beautiful mountain course and views!
Harder than it looks on paper
This is a very challenging course for folks that don't always hit the fairway. There is no room to miss left/right. The woods are thick and right at the edge of the fairway/cart paths. Most courses give a little room to miss the fairway where you can still play your ball from rough/tree line. The woods are much too thick on this course. We played from the back tees (5968 is like playing the white tees on most courses).Blind shots and HUGE elevation changes. We "thought" short course but it plays LONG. Ignore the course length. Stick with the white tees. I enjoyed the challenge and plan to take revenge on that course...now that I know how it plays. I'm a 12 handicap and ended up shooting 96 due to lost balls. Other guys in the group normally shoot 90-95 ended with scores 105+. We were all shocked at how difficult the course played versus how it looked on paper.
On another note, they have bear and you may see them come out of the woods, run across the fairway and jump back into the woods on the other side. We stopped searching for balls in the woods once we say that :-)
Really scenic
Prettiest scenery for a course that I've ever played.
Need to be straight or bring lots of balls as the fairways are lined by forest.
Definitely would like to play this course again.
Greens need work, otherwise course is in great shape.
Course is in beautiful shape but the greens need some care.
Greens
The first 9 holes the greens were bumpy. The back 9 what are plugged and not filled with sand .
Great scenery
This is one of my wife and myself favorite courses we have ever played. We came to the Poconos for the first time last April and played it and we were sold. So this year when booking a vacation we knew where we wanted to come back to and this golf course was the main reason.
Gotta Play It
Played from the forward 5400 tees, great variety of holes! Excellent views, lot of elevated tees. greens held well. Good test of shotmaking. long rides to next tees but still good scenery. must play again!!!
CCP
Holes had not been moved in a while..Edges were out of round and grown over..Bunkers were in terrible condition..Played there last year at this time and the course was excellent..Disappointed this time..
Scenic mountain views, ideal weather, great course!
First time golfing in the area. Came up to see the fall foliage this week, the views at this course were amazing. Staff was friendly. No food, just drinks and snacks.
Played from senior tees, so very short, but still challenging. Hitting fairways is key, as not in fairway or rough is in woods and not findable. Greens were slow but very true. I think if they were cut would be faster. It seems like from other reviews the course was not in great condition a couple months ago. It has recovered and is fine now.
I have never seen such a scenic course. Every hole could be a postcard picture. Many could be a cover photo of a golf magazine.
Weather could not have been better. 70 to 75 degrees, sunny, breezy on some tees which were higher than the treetops. It felt a bit cooler on cart driving through the woods, and quite a distance between some holes, but for me was just more scenery to enjoy.
Be aware, 9th hole is nowhere near clubhouse, so stock up on what you need before starting.
This overall experience was one of the most enjoyable rounds I have played in years.
A beautiful ride through the woods of Eastern PA
When the Pro told me I would be driving 13 miles of cart path to get around the track I was more than a little hesitant. Not to worry though. The course is a bit wild with tons of elevation changes. Be prepared for lots of side hill lies. I had a "hot deal" price for my round and at that price it was a steal. I'll definitely head back to the "mountain" again. Hopefully next time I will be playing with others that know the course a bit. As a single, I definitely lost a few balls due to unseen troubles between myself and the target.
Amazing mountain course!!
The views on this course are awesome. I thought the overall conditions of the course were great for October. If playing for the first time I recommend getting the tip sheet from the club house. The 16th hole is worth the trip alone!
Needs help
The course is in bad shape right now. Something is eating the fairways and rough. Tee boxes and greens are good. But winter rules should be played.
Fairways rough
Mid August play expected some areas dead, but way too much here. Some sand traps overgrown with weeds. Thankfullly i noticed looking for other players ball. Thinking man courses. Tight fairways true greens, some back 9 greens aprons aerated.
Overall not in terrible shape. Hey can you ever go wrong with a 'hot deal'
Quirky and Unique but not very good
This is probably the most unique course I've ever played. Between the routing, and the layout I've never seen anything like it. There are some holes you literally have to drive 5-10 minutes to get to.
CC of P is home to some really dumb holes, especially on the front side. The par 5 and two short par 4's(#4 and #8 iirc) are terrible holes. The back 9 is definitely more thought out. Although #16 is rather goofy despite the views from the tee.
The biggest issue though was the course conditions. The fairways, especially on the front, were in terrible shape. There were large patches of just dirt. I'm not sure what happened but it really killed the visuals. The greens were in good shape overall. The tees were spotty, but generally ok.
This course definitely ranks towards the bottom of all the Pocono courses I've played. It could be a fun quirky course if it was in better shape. As it is, I doubt I'll ever return.
Great find
Beautiful course with spectacular views on some holes. Short but challenging holes, long par 3's. Play it from the tips and you will have a great experience. Only negative was that there is no beverage cart, and you do not come back to the clubhouse intil you finish your round. Long drives between some holes.
Consistently Excellent Conditions
Excellent shape, always a pleasure to play at CCP. Only complaint is that the 19th hole was not open. Will come back again.
Well worth the Trip
Excellent condition, good pace of play, Staff was friendly for this challenging course. Will come back again. Only complaint is the Restaurant was closed.
Not worth the money
There are enough unique holes to make the course worth a hot deal. However, many of the other courses in the Poconos offer a much better experience from check in through the end of the round. Only food options were crackers or candy bars and there was very little mentioned by the gentleman working the pro shop aside from 13 miles of golf cart riding for 18 holes. Greens were ok but course was not maintained as well as its competitors.
