Beautiful Layout
This was my first time playing the course. I usually play the Oglebay courses in Wheeling since I live right above there. But with the recent flooding I struck out to explore a new course. The lay out is well done. A couple of “blind holes” but after playing it once you figure out where to place your drive. The only negative I have of the course is that when they laid out the greens the designer went with the lay of the land and did not flatten them in area for proper pin placements. So you found yourself with a lot of squirrelly putts unless you were putting uphill. Aside from that the layout was fine. I paid $65 for 18 with a cart. It was worth it. I will go back.
Playable and challenging
Fairways are open and not too narrow. For high handicappers there aren't a lot of trees and woods bordering the fairways for those errant tee shots. Distance, bunker layout and sloping greens up the challenge level.
Fairways and greens were in perfect condition.
Good Shape - Groundhog Day
This course was in excellent shape, nice fairways are perfect greens. The fairways were tight with a few blind shots, but the course did allow you to spray it a little of the tees and get away with it. Some cool elevation changes, but a lot of the holes were desighned the same way - downhill tee shot, uphill 2nd shot. Nice to play once, prices were jacked up when we played because the US Open was in town.
G1
Slow play because golf cart path only. It took 5 hours for the round
1
The course was very wet and soggy. The pace of play was very slow (6 hours for 18) because it was cart path only for carts
Great Condition
Course was in great condition. Greens were lush and fast.
Quicksilver - Southwestern Pa
Narrow fairways, mowed low that made it difficult to keep the ball from getting into the thick rough.
Greens were not tremendously fast however the pins were found to be in hilly, undulating locations and did not find one straight putt when more than 5 feet from the hole.
Was this fun to play? It sure was! I hope to get back there soon!
Visit Quicksilver
Quicksilver continues to be among the best public golf courses in Western PA. The course will reward good shots and penalize bad ones. While thick rough presents a challenge the well maintained greens are Quicksilver's best defense.
Always a favorite
Although we picked a bad weather day this course is always one of our favorites. Always in great condition and the greens are always top notch but remember to keep the ball below the holes on the greens
Really fast and deep
The putting is amazing super fast Grazer excellent
Get off the fairway you’re gonna be looking for your ball for a little bit pretty thick and deep
Not a lot of places to get in jail with the trees or the bushes very forgiving fairways
