The Inn At Pocono Manor - East Course
About
The Inn at Pocono Manor offers two championship golf courses, conveniently located less than two hours from New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Surrounded by the beauty of the Poconos, the inn has earned a spot on the National Registry of Historic Places. George Fazio designed the West Course, and the East Course was Donald Ross' creation. The East Course, the original layout, has hosted a number of legendary players, including Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead, since 1912. Ross carefully sculpted the mountainous landscape to create a course that is both challenging and memorable. It is shorter and tighter than the other course but they are equal in level of difficulty. The golf course is defined by the interesting water hazards that come into play on several holes, but the scenic views are also a draw.

Very slow
Took 5 and a half hours to play for 2 people, no ranger to help pace of play
Pocono Manor - East
Nice layout as holes are spread apart. The first two par 3's are interesting as blind shots to the green. Greens overall were not mowed and in poor condition. Water and Sand doesn't really exist. Tight fairways with woods lining both sides on most holes. I was not impressed with overall condition of course, but thought the back 9 was in better shape than the front. The price of $15/person on Golf Now was the true benefit of this outing. Not sure I would go back as the area offers much nicer courses for a few more bucks.
Challenging Course
Challenging Course but fun to play. Going along with the USGA "Play It Forward" we always play the up tees. We have found it makes the game more in reach of lower scores but the one thing we also learned is, you still have to make good golf shots no matter what tees you play from. So the macho thing does not apply.
This is a hilly course with fairways that slopes right and left along with a couple of dog legs. The signature hole is the par 3 seventh which is 77 yards but plays as 35 yards because it is almost straight down from a hilltop.
BTW, there is no longer a West course as of 2014 - They are building a ginormous Kalahari Water Park up there and the West Course was sacrificed to give the water park the land to spread out.
Bad shape..
Greens are terrible. There's 3 holes you can't even play on East course because of diseased greens. They start you out on West course, which has been closed. The 3 holes you play to make up for the 3 you'll miss are in bad shape themselves. It wasn't really a good experience. Playing at a course like this just doesn't make you any better..
The manor
The greens were not in good shape and the course hasn't been well kept for a few years its a disappointment to those of us who used to love going there!
course was great for the cost
The course was nice the greens were what you would expect from a middle public course. When you tee off on one don't let the skeet shooting that goes on just to your left bother you.
course has great potential
the course is going through major repairs. i was told because of the heavy water damage from this year's weather. they are leveraging their east and west courses to make 18 holes. a bit confusing and tracking one's score.
okay course, poor greens due to weather
course was okay but several holes were closed due to weather conditions and they looked like some of the fun ones, would try again but there are better courses for the money
needs work
some greens are bad..course is spread out due to constuction but for the price we paid it's worth going.
Course is beautiful
Course was lovely but club rental was pricey. Staff was helpful.
Expect the rates to go up with the west course sold and money to go into this one.
Several greens are under repair but it didn't detract too bad from the overall experience. The east course has lots of character and with some improvements would be a great place to play. Some holes need some modifications to be really fair for first time players. There are several that can give you a big score even if you feel you hit a good shot. Cart paths are in bad shape. But those greens that were not under repair played well.
Pocono Manor has always been an a affordable place to play golf. And I do not expect this to change.
wonderful layout great staff super value
Several months ago the golf course lost 4 greens due to excessive dampness followed by a heat wave.Pocono Manor spent thousands of dollars on a drainage project and a special deep tyne aerification to remedy this problem. The greens are responding very good and are close to being all the way back. The golf course recently started a composite course so guests did not have to play the 4 greens in question. This plan has worked well and will be in play the remainder of the year starting Friday. The property realized there was an issue and has done everything possible to ensure the 4 greens will be in great shape for 2014.The rest of the course is in very good shape and utilizing the composite course has given guests a good experience.
this course is close to home
some greens were under repair(new watering system installed)
should be better next year.i will be back. the fairways were well maintained.
Very nice links feel long course
Really enjoyed this course. Long holes but forgiving for the intermediate player. Ladies tees did not provide much relief for my wife. Some really cool green locations.
Great course for beginners/high handicap players
The west course is great for beginning golfers and high handicap players. A great mix of long and short holes. Good rolling fairways, well kept and nice greens. I will definitely be playing here again.
nice layout
course is in rough shape 5 greens arent even playable needs more maintance. the group of 2 ahead of us very slow play hitting 2 balls each had to wait on 6 holes about 10 minutes to tee off. Most likely wont be back to play the other course or to play there again theres alot of nicer courses for the money or even cheaper
This course should be closed until it's fixed properly
The course is in terrible shape. There is an alternate hole used to replace the 5th hole, which is under repair. The trouble is that the last time I played this course -- over two years ago -- the situation was the same. At least five other greens are unplayable -- one is just the fairway cut short. If there such a thing as golf police, the owners would be in jail.
fun course
some of it needs a little work but overall a very good experience. However for the women there are no bathroom facilities so plan on holding your water for at least 4 hours
Needs overhaul of entire facility.
The greens are in poor shape, the fairways are weeds. Even at 30$ on a Saturday morning it's not worth it. They booked to many groups, it was the longest round of golf I ever have played.
wide fairways for those who have a curve to their swing, mostly flat.

The golf course is spread out so the bad greens do not have to be played. The course routing is actually very easy to follow.
