The Inn At Pocono Manor - East Course
About
The Inn at Pocono Manor offers two championship golf courses, conveniently located less than two hours from New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Surrounded by the beauty of the Poconos, the inn has earned a spot on the National Registry of Historic Places. George Fazio designed the West Course, and the East Course was Donald Ross' creation. The East Course, the original layout, has hosted a number of legendary players, including Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead, since 1912. Ross carefully sculpted the mountainous landscape to create a course that is both challenging and memorable. It is shorter and tighter than the other course but they are equal in level of difficulty. The golf course is defined by the interesting water hazards that come into play on several holes, but the scenic views are also a draw.

Super tough greens
First time playing this course, the front 9 punches you in the mouth early with a lot of tricky holes including the famous #7. The greens are tiny and very very fast, mostly because you never really see pin high on them. I’m not saying they’re as difficult as Augusta’s greens or anything cause we know that’s not true but like at Augusta there are very few flat spots and your ball will roll off the green quite a bit if you don’t pick your spots. It is for sure a shot makers course. All in all great course with a lot of history. I will be back
Great along practice course
Course not in the best shape yet. Let’s wait until the season starts to judge.
Play it ONCE...
Very interesting old mountain course. A very long par 4 (490 yds), a very short par 3 (77 yds), otherwise about what you'd expect. Play it once to say you played a Donald Ross course.
HOWEVER, you'll never have a level lie, at least half the tee shots are completely blind (a couple will utterly confuse you), and you'll hit seemingly great tee shots that will run off the fairways into trouble.
I played on a Sunday afternoon, but even at that standard, the pace was horrific.
I was looking forward to playing here a second time (played it two years ago), but it's out of my system and I doubt that I'll do it again.
Ladies
Great course but some of the tee boxes for ladies are in need of improvement..some right in middle of fairway. And the cart paths are in very bad shape! Be careful.
Soggy
I'm surprised that they let us play. There was a light rain when we played, but there was standing water on the majority of the greens with the cups full of water. It wasn't even cart path only. This is an old historic course so I won't give it a terrible review. I'll be back, but in dryer weather.
Fun course
The course has a couple of funky holes, but don’t they all. Most of the holes are out in the woods, no houses and no car traffic so it’s very peaceful, also they must do the ground work early as there’s no mowers or leave blowers to bother
I would play here again and again, very enjoyable!
