Major Improvements This Year, Close to 5 Star
I've played Tanglewood many times over the past several years but this is the first time this year. The course is in the best condition I've ever seen particularly fairways and greens and a huge improcement on #17. Tee boxes still need work. This course is closer to a five star than four star, but I've played many high end courses and my bar is pretty high
Dreadful pace of play
I play this course often and love it but this was absolutely the worst experience I ever had there. There were two very slow groups and we called the ranger to speed them up and it did absolutely nothing. We finally skipped a hole and both groups on hole 9 and when we got done there was at least three holes between us. Not sure what they are paying the ranger for. Two groups backing up the whole course is ridiculous.
Always a good choice
I have played here many times and am always happy with course conditions and pace of play. My only complaint is the layout of the 17th hole. When the tees are up by the 16th green, which is where the white tees usually are, you're forced to hit a blind shot over the trees, or lay up and leave yourself 200+ yards for your 2nd shot. If you choose to hit over the trees and don't make it over, you have to play from the designated drop area. Unfortunately, the designated drop area is at the 175 yd mark behind a large pine tree that blocks 3/4 of the green. So it's almost a double penalty. Besides that, I love the course and play here multiple times a year.
Best Condition in Years
Hot day but Tanglewood in the best condition I'v seen in years. Tee boxes, fairways and greerns looked and played well. Lots of care evident in maintenance. Pace of play slow, but still under 5 hours. Will play again this year. All staff friendly and made you feel welcome. Extraordinary value
Great customer service
The staff is always polite and flexible. Best bargain in the area and quick pace of play averaging about 4 hrs per 18 w cart, wven w one walking. Playing this course every week as a regular in our rotation.
Excellent greens
Course over all was in great condition, but the greens were excellent. Pace of play could have been better if a Marshall had checked. I plan on returning every time I am in the area. Great value too.

RUIN BIRTHDAY!
I booked a tee time through GolfNow and showed up ready to play, even with the rain. I understand weather can impact pace and conditions, but what I don’t understand is not honoring the price that was clearly listed at the time of booking.
When I arrived, I was told they wouldn’t honor the GolfNow rate, which completely defeats the purpose of booking through the platform in the first place. If there are restrictions or exceptions, they should be communicated upfront; not after customers show up expecting to pay what they agreed to.
I came prepared to enjoy the course regardless of the weather, but the experience started off on the wrong foot due to the pricing issue. Transparency and consistency go a long way, especially when people are choosing where to spend their time and money.
Disappointed with how this was handled.
Tanglewood
Well manicured and in good shape this early in the season. Greens were true and the ball rolled well. Definitely will be back. Staff were welcoming and friendly.
