greens a mess
i like playing here, the narrow fairways can be a challenge. On this day they aerated the greens and sanded them a few days before. I strongly feel that they should,
1) inform you of this so you bring a frickin' polo mallet to put with, and
2) should not charge full price when the greens are this bad. seriously, a 6 foot put you had to hit like it was 15'.
Kinda ruins the whole round when the conditions are caused by the course, and not just nature.
Not in good shape - even at this price
I had set the bar low given the price, but the course was in bad shape - the fairways weren't cut anywhere. Lost several balls in the middle of fairway and people were looking for their balls all over the place which added to the speed of play. Some areas were so wet that you'd lose your shoe if you had stepped in. And the bugs/mosquitoes - you must bring bug repellent to play here. The course layout was ok, especially on the back nine. At this price and shape, it's probably ok for very beginners (that's why I had played here) but at the same time, the fairways were narrow with many homes right next to many fairways, which made it not so enjoyable for the beginners I was with that day.
Greens punched, sanded and flooded on the day I attempted to play.
Wasted day off to play what is usually a good golf course. Greens were not just punched but the sand was thick and then they added water until the point a few holes were under water!
Finished off with no flags in 15 and 16
Challenging, yet maintained
Even after a week without rain, it was evident the greens and some fairways were diligently watered. The course is tight, and challenging for a Berks county links experience. A casual golfer can expect to lose more balls than normal, and tack on some extra strokes / mulligans to a round. Don't recommend walking this course, some holes require a long traverse from green to the next tee box.
Conditions
This course is in rough shape. I would think for the price it would be In great shape. I lived in the course many years ago and it was always in great shape. Tee boxes terrible, fairways not in good shape and greens bad.
Appreciate the investment in the course
The course was nice, not as nice of condition as when I previously played. It appeared the recently aerated the greens. The only complaint is I had a very slow group in front of me.
Never again
Course had a good layout, fairways and green conditions were subpar overall of keep on course horrible would not recommend anybody
It’s ok
It could be nicer with larger greens. Lots of weeds. It’s ok
Slow and too much crab grass.
Quality of the course grass was dominated by crab grass, difficult to hit out of. The ups and downs with left and right slopes on each hole made it difficult to hit a normal shot. Too many dead grass spots. Stuck behind multiple groups of high schoolers, should not have allowed others to reserve a tee time while they dominated the course. Price was good.
Flying Hills Aug 2024
May have been my least favorite course….certainly in recent memory. Grass condition was terrible. Fairways were cut like a typical backyard. Tee boxes were not level and half sand half crabgrass. Course is quite narrow and hilly……not fun. Cart paths were in very poor condition…..bone rattling in spots. Look elsewhere.
