Chapel Hill Golf Course
About
Chapel Hill Golf Course in Reading enjoys a scenic backdrop of mature forests. The tucked away locale provides a peacefully secluded setting that is ideal for a round of golf. While it may not seem like a long layout at just under 6,150 yards, you'll soon forget about any lack of length once you get on the golf course. From the very first hole you're confronted with a water hazard, a stream that weaves around five other holes. The layout forces you to think through each hole, making the tough decision between going for it or laying up. Accurate shot placement is crucial throughout the golf course, especially on the back nine where there are several tricky doglegs and tough uneven lies. Mature trees tightly line the fairways at Chapel Hill Golf Course, and the greens are framed with strategically placed bunkers.

No one there
I prepaid for a round for 3 people. We showed up and no one was there. It was a chilly, windy day but all other courses were opened. I called and left a message but no one ever called back.
Nice course, friendly
Course is pretty nice, well kept fairways for this time of year. My only complaint is the Cart path which was easily the bumpiest/ most broken I’ve been on which was kinda annoying cuz it was 90° rule.
Great round!
Played a round while staying in the area for a few days. Course was in great shape. Looked wonderful.
I'd definitely play here again during my next visit.
Only criticism would be the cart I rented was in poor condition. Ripped seats and a huge dead spot in the steering. Stay away from cart #50 and you'll have a great day.
Golf carts are not good and alittle dangerous steering was none existent
Not for Us
This is not a golf course we would play again. We played maybe 15 years ago ( with the same disappointment) , thought we would give it another try.
Can't say much good about it, so I will leave it at that.
Chapel Hill
Greens were ok,
fairway and tees were like a crab grass farm,
carts were terrible, large holes in seats and steering so loose cart wanted to go left
if you were turning right etc.
no windshield in most carts.
Twilight done right
Very pleased to play a twilight round without someone telling me my cart had to be back 45 minutes before dark. Simply parked the cart at cart return when done and after staff had already left for the evening.
Course was very-light in traffic on a Monday night (maybe I should keep that a secret).
Conditions were otherwise mostly good or better. Greens rolled well and true. Some sparse spots at times in fairways, but no more than any other public course in this price range.
Other reviews say the cart paths are in poor shape and that's fairly accurate, but I'd not over-value that unless you suffer chronic back pain nor similar.
Not worth the money
I get it. Rain ruins everything, but if you are doing cart path only, have cart paths that aren’t like going off roading in a Baja buggy. The carts are severely old and mine in particular broke down twice to the point I almost just left it on a hole. The pace of play was terrible on the back nine when a foursome of seniors would not let me play through as a single. No one really monitoring and from what the staff told me, they are always a problem playing 6 hour rounds. The staff was the only good part about this place. Couldn’t have been friendlier. $64 is a rip off for what that course was.
Course Needs Some Help
We tried two different carts and both of them had very bad steering problems. They jerked all over the place with driving down the cart paths. Also, the cart paths are in most places completely falling apart. Very rough in places with standing water and lots of pot holes.
Cart paths are horrible
The course layout is great. Challenging yet fair. My cart had some kinda suspension issues but it’s no wonder with the cart paths being as horrible as they were! Get a lid for your cup or drink half your beer before moving or you’ll wear it. Fix the paths will = less cart maintenance expense.
Carts and paths are falling apart
Cart barely moved, have aluminum rails so they’re not magnetic, and paths are all falling apart bad
Under-appreciated target Golfer's bang-for-buck delight
I'd estimate half the holes on this course are "use your driver with caution" holes.
I'm saying that's a good thing and makes for "thinking mans's golf"
Lots of tiny lateral streams in 180-200 yard range (from the white tees), a few small ponds sprinkled in, and more than a hole or two where barely missing the fairway to at least one side will put you into a game over" lie in a red hazard.
Maybe a low handicapper who consistently drives 250 yards straight and/or can work the ball in both directions can still overpower some of the shorter, narrower holes on this track, but not this guy.
Had lots of fun hitting irons off some tees, laying up responsibly, etc.
Play was a bit slow behind an evening league when I was there, but I was eventually able to skip around to empty holes once I got into the course's interior.
The course was in as good a shape as any other lower-cost public course which went through last year's drought. It cost me $19 to walk after 5 p.m.
Yes, it's possible to get patchy fairway lies where grass which went dormant during the drought has yet to come back, but, seriously, how much can you ask when you're playing for $19.
