Chapel Hill Golf Course in Reading enjoys a scenic backdrop of mature forests. The tucked away locale provides a peacefully secluded setting that is ideal for a round of golf. While it may not seem like a long layout at just under 6,150 yards, you'll soon forget about any lack of length once you get on the golf course. From the very first hole you're confronted with a water hazard, a stream that weaves around five other holes. The layout forces you to think through each hole, making the tough decision between going for it or laying up. Accurate shot placement is crucial throughout the golf course, especially on the back nine where there are several tricky doglegs and tough uneven lies. Mature trees tightly line the fairways at Chapel Hill Golf Course, and the greens are framed with strategically placed bunkers.

My cart was a bit wonky and the paths were kinda destroyed, great golf course though

Problems with course
We like the course , but the cart paths are a total mess and the carts are pathetic . The cart we used had raw seat foam and springs exposed on the drivers side , not to mention that half of the seat foam was totally missing on the drivers side !

It was decent
The course was pretty nice where dry. I went 2 days after a mild rain and it was fairly swampy in a large portion of the course. The golf carts were in fair condition at best and the the cart path was atrocious. Structure throughout the course appear rundown and outdated. The greens were very fast throughout the entire course which was awesome and added some difficulty. All that being said, I would play there again for sure (during a dry streak of weather)

Cart paths
Course not bad for winter golf. Cart paths were in very bad condition. Very rough and a lot of holes. The cart I had a problem with the steering, it would turn side to side without moving the steering wheel. I would recommend walking or check cart before starting.

Very nice track
Chapel Hill is a very nice public course in southern Berks County. Well kept. Challenging holes. Very nice folks in pro shop and bar area. Just a nice place. I’d love for them to start replacing cart paths but I’m sure there is an expense involved with that venture. Great place. Nice people. A very good public corse to play.
Carts and cart paths
Love the course very fun to play always seems to be in great condition. Rough isn’t unfriendly and greens roll pretty true. My one concern with this place is; one I don’t understand why they don’t put some money into either new golf carts or reupholstering the seats?? Some of the carts have major steering problems which need addressed also. My other concern is why the cart paths are so awful? I feel like the course would attract more players if they addressed those issues. Maybe I’m wrong but worth the share. Thank you,

Accommodating course
I have played the course about 4 times in the last year and find the course to be well conditioned given the very reasonable price for the rounds. The staff has been accommodating when I have shown up as a single without a tee time. The greens are fast and the fairways are well maintained even during the summer heat. The water hazards on the front 9 are placed right at the average driving distance from the white tees and are sometimes well hidden from the first time golfer.
All in all a very enjoyable and reasonably challenging course with a good pace of play.

The course was wet the first day we played delayed by frost the second. Otherwise course is in good shape. We're kept well informed regarding the delay while waiting.
