Chapel Hill Golf Course
About
Chapel Hill Golf Course in Reading enjoys a scenic backdrop of mature forests. The tucked away locale provides a peacefully secluded setting that is ideal for a round of golf. While it may not seem like a long layout at just under 6,150 yards, you'll soon forget about any lack of length once you get on the golf course. From the very first hole you're confronted with a water hazard, a stream that weaves around five other holes. The layout forces you to think through each hole, making the tough decision between going for it or laying up. Accurate shot placement is crucial throughout the golf course, especially on the back nine where there are several tricky doglegs and tough uneven lies. Mature trees tightly line the fairways at Chapel Hill Golf Course, and the greens are framed with strategically placed bunkers.

Poor conditions right now.
The mowers must and fertilizers must be broken. Dandelion is everywhere with huge fields of it in some areas. Rough and fairways are much higher than normal. Just needs to be cut more often. Slows down pace of play when you can't find a ball a few feet off a fairway or green. Play here a lot and it is like playing a different course now.
Nice Course
I have played Chapel Hill before and my experience was very good in both cases. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in good shape. The cart paths could use some maintenance but overall a good value for the money.
Hidden Gem
Say hi to Jimmy the Greek (course management)
This course is a challenge with it's tightness and sloping greens. Had a really good time and played with my GF who used her free birthday round.
Best Greens
The condition of the course was very good. The greens were the best I have played on this year. The grass around the greens was lush and grab grass free.
Over all it was a very nice round of golf. Thanks!
rating
best 18 holes ever because I made my first hole-in-one
it took me 65yrs. but I did it
A pleasant experience.
The course was in good condition, pace of play was excellent. Course is challenging but not punishing.
nice course for the money
Played this course for the first time after having to cancel at another course. Overall condition of the course was good. Cart paths absolutely need to be repaired/redone. Shot selection is a must- no grip it and rip it here. course actually set up well to my shot distances. Would play again for the price I got to play for.
friendly
this was a good Golf Now value, and Kim the manager is terrific, well done.
Local Gem
Fairways and greens are well maintained here. The rough was long enough to penalize you if you stayed into it. Easy to find good deals here. I'll be back.
This course is tight at some holes so it plays a bit harder at times.
Enjoyed our selves greatly, event went a second round. t was a great day.
Course in Great Shape
I play Chapel Hill regularly and all season the course has been in great shape. The front nine is quite challenging and requires some thinking in terms of club selection because of many holes with water hazards. The back nine is less challenging and more open for the most part.
The only complaint I have is that it is not marked at the tee boxes how far it is to the water hazards from the tee. However, that does not keep me from coming back.
short, well maintained course
well maintained course, greens in excellent shape, parts roll smoothly.shot placement and distance very important to scoring well.played early in the morning done within 3 hours, great rate through hot deals on golfNow.
Narrow, but entertaining
This is a short course, but plays long because you are often hitting less than a driver from the tee. From the blue tees (6000) yards, it is common to only hit driver 3 times, on 6, 9 and 18. The rest of the holes you just need to get the ball in play into a fairway surrounded by trouble. Conditions have been great this year, greens firm and rolling well, fairways well maintained, nice rough. Cartpaths need some work but that doesn't have much to do with golf. There's a snack bar and bar, no restaurant. My kid loves coming here as there is plenty of wildlife. You're not surrounded by houses, just woods, so there's deer, turkeys, rabbits, turtles, etc.
First Timer at Chapel Hill
Nice course just minutes off Route 222. Short course so I played the Blue tees and enjoyed my round. Select the right club on holes 4-5-6 as water comes into play. Hole 11 from the blue you cannot see the green, hit 7 iron left me with 160 to the hole.
Picture is from hole 8, two does and a 6pt buck.
Chapel Hill
We played very early on a Wed morning. Seemed like we were the first ones out so pace of play was wonderful. It is a good place for beginners in that the course has wide open spots. Also, has some tighter holes that can present a challenge for more skilled golfers.
Course should provide vertical yardage markers. I didn't see any and that is annoying. Course should also provide yardage advice somewhere for holes that have water hazards across the fairways. If you don't have local knowledge then you might lose balls and strokes for hitting the wrong club...even though you hit a good straight shot! I have played here many times in the past 20 years and they still don't have yardage help on the hole signs or card.
Cost was great due to a hot deal on GolfNow.
Greens were pretty good and cut nicely and not too slow.
Great Value
I was pleasantly surprised by the course. I booked on line and could not get a handle on the course layout based on their web site but I was very impressed by the course. It was clean, well maintained, challenging and fun. The greens were relatively flat but occasionally had undulations that would challenge the better putters (of which I am not). The greens were impeccably manicured and consistent. There were a couple of medium to long range par threes that test ones ability to hit long irons accurately. (which I struggle with)
I play many country club courses in and around the Philadelphia area and I this course is comparable to some of those. The trip to Reading for me was over an hour and I am glad I made the trip. I highly recommend this course.
Short but challenging
Surprisingly tough for a short course. Very tough greens and ball placement is critical. Course was in good shape and greens were running about medium.
Very enjoyable course!
I though the course offered an enjoyable experience for all levels.
little course that can make you pay !!
the greens were flawless with plenty of speed
fairways were a little muddy from all the rain last week but still very playable
some of the tee boxes could use some repair work with some very uneven lies
and the bunkers were very good for a public course !!
much more challenging from the blues
I'm 3.5 and hit it very solid today and managed a 74 with some good up and downs so don't let the yardage deceive you !!!
Great price for the type of course
The course isn't very nice. The cart path is horrible and the Greens sometimes looks like the fringe. However, for the price of $10 it's a great course. For the right price, this course is of value. Would not play if I had to pay full price
