Chapel Hill Golf Course in Reading enjoys a scenic backdrop of mature forests. The tucked away locale provides a peacefully secluded setting that is ideal for a round of golf. While it may not seem like a long layout at just under 6,150 yards, you'll soon forget about any lack of length once you get on the golf course. From the very first hole you're confronted with a water hazard, a stream that weaves around five other holes. The layout forces you to think through each hole, making the tough decision between going for it or laying up. Accurate shot placement is crucial throughout the golf course, especially on the back nine where there are several tricky doglegs and tough uneven lies. Mature trees tightly line the fairways at Chapel Hill Golf Course, and the greens are framed with strategically placed bunkers.

Not a bad course for the price.

There is really no problem with this course except that it seems like a few of the fairways don't get enough sun and were waterlogged. Other than that course was fine. Nice greens and an interesting setup, not much back and forth. For the price you can get on Golfnow, definitely worth a play. I'll be back for sure.

Worth the drive!

It took me about 50 minutes to get to Chapel Hill in Reading... and it is definitely worth the drive. Great price on golf now. Tee boxes ok maybe a little crowned, fairways in decent shape despite all the heat recently and greens relatively fast which is what i prefer. Looked as though the bunkers recently had fresh white sand added which was great. Fairway yardage clearly marked on the sprinkler heads. Cart paths were probably the worst i've seen in a while so put those head covers back on. The course was a little hard to navigate especially hole 11 which has two tee box locations and it wasnt marked which tee box to use, some of the holes were missing yardage signs at the tee boxes. There is a lot of water in play so you have to choose your clubs wisely which was exciting. Definitely a risk and reward course, If your feeling froggy go with the driver. i personally used hybrids and woods off the tee which worked to my advantage. It helps to know the yardage to the hazards and none were marked. I tee'd off at 4 pm on a beautiful saturday afternoon and it only took 3 hours to play, awesome. All in all this course will definitely be in my rotation.

Greens are the best feature

Despite the really hot weather, the greens were in excellent condition. They were receptive and ran true. The fairways were in good shape too, with distances marked on every sprinkler head in addition to the 200, 150, and 100 disks and lines on cart paths. There are some holes that require 180 yard lay-ups in front of water that can cause problems if you are unsure of distances to the hazards, and a few holes where the ponds are not really visible off the tee and a player unfamiliar with the course may be surprised. A few mostly shaded tee boxes have difficulty growing grass. Only 2 par 5s on this par 70 course.

Good layout and was able to finish in 3 1/2 hours.

Course was in adequate shape after recent soaking rainfall but it didn't seem any attempt was made to pump water out of bunkers. Can usually deal with wet sand, but not standing water.

Good course, friendly people

The staff, both at the clubhouse and the bar, are really friendly. The course was in good shape. The fairways could have been a little shorter, but not bad enough to complain. The course has some hazards and bunkers that make it challenging. It's definitely a course management type course.

The only negative is the dated course signs. As first timers here, my group did not always know where to go. Also, there was no help on the course for distance to hazards, either on the hole sign or the score card.

Fun course to play

this course is fun to play with alot of options off the tee, many hazards in play so you have to think your way around this course, hitting a driver is not always your best option. At the price we payed though Golf Now this was a great bargin not to mention the course was in great shape. We loved it!

nice track

tremendous value for 18 holes. Not a long course, but you have to pay attention, as water comes into play regularly. Some very fun holes on this course

average course layout with fair conditions

Chapel Hill has a couple of interesting holes and a few tight ones. Small water hazards were as abundant as bunkers. Fairways and rough could use some weed control / greens were very fast and in great shape. Not much on elevation changes and no particular wow factor but for an inexpensive outing it was worth the $ paid and we moved along nicely throughout the afternoon.

Exceeded Expectations

I have played this course about 10 times and never really liked it in the past. My complaint was always that on more than half of the holes a water feature forced you to layup off the tee. Some of the creeks that crossed the fairways are now closed off or dried up and are now a non factor. THE COURSE WAS PRISTINE on 5/1/13. 90 degree rule was in effect (which I ususally find to be a pain) but the course was in such great shape I wouldn't care if they always use the 90 degree rule. This year I have played Berkleigh, Reading CC, Willow Hollow, Manor, Sea Palms (St. Simons Island). Chapel Hill was in the best shape w/ the lowest price.

wish we had known they were in midst of aerating and sanding the greens.

we knew the course is short and tight. Was not advised of ongoing aeration of greens which detracted from enjoymeny of our round of golf.

Great course for all players

This course throws different hazards at you. There are several water hazards that can really make you think. There are strategically placed bunkers and some narrow fairways. Driving straight is very important. This course is great for good players and a learning experience for duffers. Good luck on this course!
