#1 tee looking straight down fairway to the green Photo submitted by BigJimSportSlam on 07/08/2013
tilly golf course
Played this course on the 4th weekend. It was in great shape ! Pace of play was great for a holiday weekend. The staff were great both in the pro shop and bar. Thank you !
Super Shape
Course in best shape I. Yes..They finally improved the cartpath on #2...GREAT JOB.....Fairways, teeboxes all very nice, but the greens putted so true like a dream.
Course is NOT easy
..1st time players should play the front tees to get a better feel, even if you are a long ball hitter.. Par 3's are especially hard from tips....#15 is one of the most unique par 3"s anywhere! I actually think #4 and #17 are tougher than this island hole. Anyway, take a cart as it is a long, tough walking course....
Good luck!!...I need to go back soon and get revenge as I shot 90 and played well.
Classic
Hiden gem
Theres a reason this course is still open after more than 100 years, it's a classic. Findlay and Tillinghast put together a beauty. Start to finish a challenge. This course makes you think about every shot. I loved it. Peter in the Pro Shop was helpful, friendly and courteous. Overall a great experience. Thanks Galen Hall keep up the good work!
Amazing Value
Despite living over an hour away, Galen Hall is my go-to course. I live in the highly dense suburbs of Philly so most public courses near me are always packed and expensive. That is not the case for this hidden gem. They almost always have tee times available if you make a last minute decision to play, and with rounds priced at $45 it's a steal. The first couple holes seemed forced from a layout perspective, and sometimes have spotty conditions, but 3-18 are amazing. It's a very unique links style layout with great elevation changes, solid conditions for fairways/greens, and amazing views across the property. I'm shocked this course doesn't get more recognition, but I'm thankful for that.
Old School Golf
Fun course to play. Very small greens will test your accuracy. Not a bad layout.
Great value for a challenging course with fantastic history
The beautiful vistas and elevation change throughout provide a unique golfing experience. The course seems scorable, but the AW Tillinghast marquee postage stamp greens are tough to navigate. Super fun course to play!
Off season
To be fair, it is off season. There were some things that were not in the best of shape & hole #2 rerouting was a nightmare and not safe to have carts on public roads with speeding motorists for that distance and that long! Also, the first par 3 having a temporary tee at this point in the year with some of these temperatures seems like overkill as a precaution and it detracts from one of the most enjoyable holes on the course despite its short distance. The course needs new cart paths and has for a long time. The condition of the cart paths is terrible & does not add to the charm nor the experience of the course! Conditions on the course need some material attention for in season rates to be justifiable.

Tillinghast design here!
I'm hoping that there are improvement plans for the cart paths.
