Regents' Glen Country Club

About
Regent's Glen Country Club is home to an Arthur Hills design tucked amid mature woodlands. The golf course is known for its playability but there are several challenges in store that will test your shot-making skills. The course starts out mildly with a front nine that sprawls across gently undulating meadows while the back nine gets hillier and more challenging. There are more lakes and strategically placed bunkers that come into play on the back as well as a hidden brook that is just waiting for errant shots. Regent's Glen's 11th hole is one of the most intimidating, with a large lake along the fairway. If you dare to carry a portion of this hazard, you'll be rewarded with a shorter approach to the flagstick, however the hidden brook and deep bunker in front of the green will make that very difficult. You'll have to choose your strategy carefully and proper club selection is also key.

It was ok
We were pretty hyped reading all the reviews and the course was nice enough just over hyped and not as nice as the pictures make it look. Definitely two completely different courses between the front and back
Had a excellent experience
First time playing this course. The front 9 holes was open and had easy access to the protected greens greens. The layout was wonderful to look at and greens were very approachable. The back 9 holes were as if one was playing on a different course, very scenic and beautiful every hole had a different look and challenging but not to the extent of being overwhelmed. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course for the layout and atmosphere. Had a great experience and recommend to all golfers to play this course. Very satisfied.
GREAT COURSE
Probably the wore conditions I have ever seen. Greens top dressed with sand, fairways burning out, tee boxes in bad shape. Weeds not maintained. Sure hope they can turn it around quickly. Favorite in area, but right now they need help.
Beautiful Track
As a 5 handicap and long hitter, I was a little skeptical of the short length (even from the back tees). I was pleasantly surprised. This is a stunning golf course which is very well kept. The greens roll very fast and true and are some of the nicest I've played in the area. The holes are unique and challenging. Despite the shot length, the holes have many challenges & the greens require precision on the approaches as you need to be in the right area. You don't want to be putting/chipping downhill! I'll definitely be back to play this one again!
Nice Course, with some very scenic views.
The staff was very uninterested in helping out. Upon arrival no one brought a cart to us for our bags. Then there was no snack bar or halfway house, not even a cart girl. Water was on 2 holes, at least it was cold. The course itself was in GREAT shape. Greens were FAST. Pro shop was poorly supplied couldn't even buy a hat.
A must play
Worth the money and them some! Be ready with you putter greens are fast, true, and fair.
Take the Opportunity
I'm familiar with a number of Arthur Hills tracts, mostly in Maryland and Michigan, and this one fits squarely in his design patterns.
Couple of notes:
1) We teed off on a Saturday afternoon, a 4some, and were played through by a number of singles and pairs throughout the day. We were happy to let them play through, but we didn't see another 4some out there all day.
2) The front and back are completely different animals.
3) You don't need to hit driver, but you definitely need to hit the green. Smaller greens, often tiered, made 3 putts a little more common that you'd like.
4) Watch your misses and your bailouts here, those suckers are quick.
5) Course is in great shape for all the rain, greens weren't pocked up, and no erosion faults to be seen.
All in all had a good time. Thanks to Regents for opening up a few times on Golf Now so we could get out there.
Excellent putting course
The course is a great test of golf but fair. Fast greens and the front a back 9 are totally different.
Nice course
Good overall value for money. Pace of play an issue and sand traps had rocks in them that shouldn't be there in private country club. Surprised no cart gps.
Great Track; Must play in York area
Played here for the first time and i was very impressed. Staff was friendly, showed us how to get down to the practice facilities and first tee. Help yourself to free range balls. Large grass driving range, with actual greens to aim at. Fairway-ish grass around greens and front aprons. A bunker and/or chipping green adjacent to range. Large putting green, and a smaller green next to the first tee to give u quick practice while waiting to start your round. Course was in excellent condition; considering it was the first week of November I think it was in outstanding condition. Fairways had no thin / burnt spots, greens in great shape and rolled true, bunkers were in great shape (and actually had sand in them, unlike some other courses that have skimped on the sand this year). You will love #11, reminiscent of 18 at Pebble with the forced carry over a large lake. Back 9 is definitely the harder of the 2. Course is not long, but quick, undulating greens put a premium on GIR's. I will undoubtedly be back next year to play in the warm weather. I love Royal Manchester, and would say Regents is even better. If you are in York, Regents is a MUST Play.
A must play
One of the nicest courses in York County and the green look like they have never been played on. The roll true and everything is spot on with this course.
what a back nine
while short, it is a great course to play. Golf now price of $30 was wonderful. the back nine, however, is hard to describe. It appears the architect ran out of land on holes 11 through 15 and squeezed them in. Holes 16, 17, and 18 are normal par 4's and 5's. those other holes, well, you got to play them. good luck on the back
2 Totally different 9's
What a great course down in York, PA. Not an extremely long course, but plenty of places to get into trouble. The front 9 is a bit easier than the back 9. Lots of character here at this track. Staff was friendly and very helpful. If you get an opportunity to play here, jump at it.
Short course with deep green-side rough.
Very short but very well-manicured course. Strokes are built in by having deep rough around the greens and large humps in a number of greens. Without the deep greenside rough, there would be very little challenge. Holes 3-11-12-13-18 are absolutely gorgeous!
Very well kept
For late in the season, this course was very well kept. It is a private club without all the attitude and the pomp and circumstance. Narrow fairways and tucked away greens make for a challenging, fun round.
A must play for central PA area.
This is really a hidden gem and the layout is very reminiscent of playing a beach course. Up to now, Regents Glen was totally private. Its nice to see a couple tee times per day on golf now, as its a nice layout, and the conditions are excellent.
The course is not long, but can be demanding on the approach shots as the greens are undulated and fast. There are many large faced bunkers, and sometimes it was easier to approach the green from the left or right side of the fairway. So, if you are hitting the ball well and hit to your spots, you should score well. I hit a lot of short wedges and chips to greens, but I did hit driver on most of the front side. The back side gets a little narrower, and more difficult. Some holes had a significant distance between the blue and white tees, so it would play like a completely different course from either of those tee boxes.
I really enjoyed this course and will definitely return as long as they keep a few spots available at golfnow.
Awesome
Great day all around. Staff was very helpfull. Pro introduced himself to us and was interested in our experience
Short but interesting course
Regents Glen is built in a 55 and over community. That probably explains its shorter length (5,800 from the whites). The greens are excellent, the course layout interesting, and enough trouble to keep your attention. If you are in the fairway off the tee, a good score can be had. Rough is not high, but still challenging.
Staff is friendly and accommodating. A round can be a little pricey, but definitely is still enjoyable.
Private club with 2 golfnow.com tee times per week?
A nice course but i question the courses motivation for being on golfnow.com. It didn't seem that they really wanted golfnow.com customers on the course.
Regents Glen 6-28-14
Awesome experience. My friend and I took our wives and we all really enjoyed it. Course was in great shape and the holes keep your interest as you play. Challenging but fair. Staff was very helpful and welcoming.
Would totally recommend to all.
