Green Valley Country Club

This was my first time playing the course. I was surprised to find that it was as long as it was - 6600+ yards from the white tees as a par 71. Things got off to as rocky start as apparently there was an 11:56 group, a 12:00 group, and my group at 12:04. When I asked the starter what was going on, he blamed Golfnow and said that they put 4 groups out in 4minute tee intervals. That sounded sketchy to me, but it was what it was. So we turned at 2:30 after 9 holes. The layout was fine, if a little flat and straight for the most part. The greens had recently been punched, so I didn't get their best representation. The bunkers were pretty terrible, with not a lot of sand. Overall, not a great experience, and I'm surprised they charge $80 with a cart on weekends. I doubt I'll be heading back.

Good place to slip on to during the mid/late fall afternoons. Reasonably priced for walking 9 holes. Can loop 9 in less than 2 hours.

Great course with awesome staff! It was my birthday and they went out of their way to make sure it was a great time. Course conditions were fantastic. Haven’t played a better public course ever. I would recommend this to anyone who asks.

We played here two days. The staff was great and gave us a rain check as we were not able to complete our round the first day out. Book tee times on line 5 days in advance.

Course recently aerifred. Fairways & plugged greens, so just a timing issue.

GVCC is a very challenging golf course. It sits at the crest of Aquidneck Island and is at the mercy of winds in our Ocean State. Right now, the course is undergoing Fall aeration, something that all of the courses undergo at this time of year. Greens have just been 'pinned' and sanded, so our normally speedy greens are not at their best, but will be in a week or two. Our Spring and Summer have been very wet, and the rough has been very penal as a result. Still one of the best semi-private courses in Rhode Island.

I love playing this course when not overbooked. One of the groups included 5 teenagers who were painfully slow and unaware of etiquette. We skipped a hole to pass them and things did not get much better. On the eighth hole there were 3 groups waiting to tee off. Nice course, in great shape but its just too slow. They need to limit the number of groups per hour or utilize a diligent ranger.

Long course. In good shape. Greens really rolled out making it more challenging. All and all very good.

First time playing this course. I was a single and joined up with 3 other young guys. We had a really slow group in front of us so a lot of patience involved. Course was relatively easy but fun. The greens however as I came to find out were what protected the course. sneaky fast but not always what you see is what you get. I really enjoyed playing this course and would definitely play it again. Cheers

If you want to play a course that has a great layout and is in superb shape Gree Valley is the place to play. Many holes offer a true risk/reward feature which will challenge the skilled play without leaving the novice a good round to enjoy. The 10th hole is 600 yards from the whit tees and slightly longer from the blues. It is a picturesque par 5 with grand Vistas of the valley.

I enjoyed my round and thought the course was in nice shape. The lack of signage was weird, though. There are no signs indicating what hole you are on and very few directional signs. I played solo and had to ask regular golfers for clarification a couple of times, especially on the back nine.
