Winnapaug Country Club

Nice layout, greens were decent, but the rest of the course was extremely neglected.

For it being winter golf - I got what I paid for. Fairways were ok. Greens were good. Had to hit off mats on par 3. Pace of play was absolutely terrible but this is what happens on a beautiful winter day in New England; lots of golfers and minimal daylight hours. Staff could always be a tad bit more friendly towards GolfNow golfers. They made sure to tell me the course received nothing from GolfNow. All in all, I’m happy I went there to play and will definitely come back again

This was my first time playing Winnapaug. For early December, the course was a joy to play. The layout is very interesting with an old course feel. You have holes going uphill, downhill, side hill with blind shots to a couple greens. The course was in very good shape from tee to green. In addition to a good course, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend you try Winnapaug to experience a real Donald Ross New England course.

The condition of the course is the best I’ve seen in years! Fairways are in great condition greens are rolling true and fast, and the rough is even growing in! Kudos to the management!

Course was in horrible shape. Also they did not inform us in advance that they had punched the greens and over sanded those greens. I would never play this again.

The course has a great layout and the greens are excellent. However that’s about the only positive. Tees and fairways are in poor shape. You’re lucky if you can find a patch of grass. For $70+ it’s not worth the money.

The location and climate work against these folks all year long and they do as good of a job as possible keeping this place playable, so it’s not for lack of effort that the conditions are what they are. This is an affordable fun round of Golf no matter skill level. My brother and i play here every time we come down to visit my parents and the staff is wonderful, very nice, easy going, they make you feel comfortable in the club house, and on the course.

All in all, very fun, very affordable place to play with so/so conditions in the fairways, but that’s no one’s fault but Mother Nature, for what these folks are up against year in and year out, they do as good a job as anyone around. It’s a tough climate to keep green, especially with the water shortage in that area of the state, so give them a break when you play here this time of year because no one wants the conditions to be perfect more than they do.

Lastly, THE GREENS ARE BEAUTIFUL, some days are like playing on glass! Thank you very much for all of your hard work, we really appreciate all of you. We’ll see you here pretty soon, 1 or 2 times more before you close up shop for the winter. Thanks again.

*Save the frustration. Save your money. Think hard before playing here. Maybe go mini golf instead.

I’ve been a golfer for ten years now and never have I had an experience as poor as this.

For Context: My group is from out of town and booked two tee times. The course was painfully backed up, so we combined to a group of six and switched to a scramble. We kept pace of play and still waited on every tee box. The ranger came out to tell us to switch back to groups of 4 and that we were slowing down the course. We obliged, and broke up our group like he asked. The ranger then proceeded to follow our group around the course and say that “We aren’t real golfers”. Not to play race but one member of our group is a minority so this was incredibly insulting. On hole 12 the ranger got out of his cart and proceeded to yell at a member of my group, he was up in his face and threatened to call the cops on us without any evidence of us breaking rules or not doing what he asked. At the end of the round. He was waiting for us at our car, and had taken our license plate number and said he would be calling the cops on us. He would not provide his name or any information on why he was taking our personal information down. Essentially, the course staff harassed us our entire round.

We will likely be filling a police report based off our experience.

THIS COURSE IS THE WORST COURSE I HAVE PLAYED IN TEN YEARS.

The condition was horrible. Bunkers were filled with rocks and the fairway was mostly dry dirt. It felt like we were hitting off concrete. I wouldn’t pay $8 to play here much less the $62 we were charged. Don’t waste your money and energy here.

I'm just trying to figure out, who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to go from $60, to $72 for 18 with a cart? Considering that the course has no irrigation, and the fairways are like a baron desert, it doesn't seem like a wise business plan to alienate the individuals who were willing to give you a shot for $60.. not I anymore!

Can’t blame the scorched fairways and tee boxes on the management they are using most of the available water on the greens which I have no problem with however to pay 72$ to ride on a Friday morning seems a bit unreasonable
