My friends and I from Lexington South Carolina, drove the 1 hr 15 min to Barnwell, SC to play Sweetwater CC which I played in my teens and twenties. I am now 58 and had not played there in 20+ years. The fairways and greens were in very good shape for a small town course with a few patches on the greens under repair. The course isnt long but it makes up for it with alot of doglegs and holes that require you to be precise with distances. The price for the course was great and it was very much a value. The staff was amazing offering up specials in the clubhouse. I ran in to several folks I knew including the starter who I had played golf w 30+ years ago. I really miss the small town, common folk courses like this. We plan to return soon.

Played this course on 4/18 at 1130am. Ranger was in the parking lot and super friendly. Really helpful since we had never played the course. Course even gave out a small course guide. Conditions were good, not great. Some bad spots on the greens. But overall course played great. Cool layout, front 9 is tight and technical. Back nine is wide open. Pace was fantastic. Played with both my adult kids and we all suck but there were no groups behind us and never felt pressured to speed up, pace played in 3.5 hours. Would go back again for value and experience. Better than most columbia courses and better value.

Excellent and friendly staff. Course was good some greens have a few rough spots but overall good value for the money.

Course was decent condition, especially for the price. A lot of greens had some ground under repair areas, and one par 3 wasn’t even useable, but the value was there and would play again.

In my first trip to Sweetwater I was pleasantly surprised with the course layout. Some short holes that you have to lay up and there are some wide open holes too. Most greens were good but there were a few that had some bare spots, but I have paid way more for much less. I will be back.

Night and day difference in this course within the last year. Last spring the fairways were plush and the greens.were great. A whole different story the fairways have massive bare spots and what grass there is is cut so short it’s like hitting off hard pan. The greens have bare spots in them. The staff are very friendly but the course is in a downhill mode right now. I have written favorable reviews of this course but sadly I can no longer do that.

Drove from Massachusetts for the masters. Booked this place last minute because the price was right and it was only an hour from where we were staying. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the round was better than I expected for what we paid. Would definitely play here again if I’m ever in the area.

My friend recently moved out to South Carolina and I came to visit him from North Georgia over the weekend. We decided to try out this course. Staff was extremely friendly and they encourage people to bring a cooler. Pace of play was perfect as it wasn't super busy for a Saturday. Beers and snacks in the shop are way more affordable than where im from and i was happy that a sandwich and coors light was only 7 dollars. We played 18 and had a great time. Ill definitely be back soon!

I really hate to write this review because this used to be an awesome course. I have no idea what happened, but something did, and it is not positive. I've played this course multiple times and it has always been in great shape. Not today, they are on the verge of losing the entire course. You could almost say that they have. Not one good tee box, not one good fairway and all the greens are just bad. Multiple fairways with sod just thrown on top of more sod, greens the worst I have ever seen here, and the maintenance looks like it is nonexistent. Did someone quit or get fired? A new ownership group? How can such a nice course be lost so quickly? Someone needs to be fired immediately because this place has turned into a cow pasture. The management and the maintenance and grounds crew should be embarrassed. Witnessing the downfall of a course that used to be really, really good is tragic. What a waste of time and money today. The course needs to be shut down and have everything thrown at it to get back to being respectable. As it is now it is an embarrassment considering how was it was just a few short months ago.
